Misfires - Injector Cleaner

Just curious how often everyone runs injector cleaner through their engines. It says on the bottles you should use it every oil change, but maybe its different on a direct injected car?

I'm just wondering if this is maybe why I get a cel for misfire sometimes. So far I have 14k miles on my car and I haven't put any injector cleaner through yet. Anyone have any insight? Thanks in advance.

Are you getting misfire when it's cold out but not warm? Or when you NLS?

Don't worry about injector cleaner on the LNF. I doubt it will do anything at the pressure it's sprayed into the cylinder.

I get misfire right when I start the engine when the engine is cold and it's cold outside. I've never actually heard or felt it misfire so I'm not too worried. I've had it to the dealer and they don't know why it's happening. It won't ever misfire when they have it of course.

Good to know on the injector cleaner. I won't waste my $! Thanks.

If you do use injector cleaner (which I still do...can't hurt anything), use the Chevron Techron stuff...that is the only stuff that is approved by GM and they actually re-label that stuff and sell it as a GM product...just an FYI...

Especially if you use top tier detergent gasoline (Shell, Exxon, Texaco, Sunoco, and a few I am forgetting). I use complete fuel system cleaner in my cars once a year just to be sure everything from the fuel lines to the combustion chambers is clean. I am really **** about my cars though.

I agree...it may not be necessary, but it is one way for you to keep the fuel system running well in case you get the occasional bad tank of fuel...

My buddy used seafoam on his old El Camino a while back to try and get it running again....The entire street was just a large cloud of white smoke...

It was the El Camino's final "**** you" to the environment (the thing got about 10 mpg...downhill) ...we both felt pretty guilty about all the crap it put into the air

The chassis rusted through and the whole thing fell apart a few weeks later...the world is a better place without that thing on the streets....what a **** car that was

I put it in my gas only. Not my vac lines (Intake) so no smoking here.

Chevron gas only for my car. its got the techron stuff already mixed in. But my dad likes to take my car sometimes and show it off at work..

ive had the pleasure of him putting in 89 gas saying its okay for the car... even though it clearly states 91 octane only.

The only way to be sure you are getting what you need in your fuel system is to buy it and put it in on your own. They probably put a quart in each tanker...probably just say it is in there to fool saps like you into buying gas from them every time...
