All these people saying silverstars burn out are more than likely touching the glass with their fingers before install which will cause the bulbs to fail early. As long as you wear latex gloves during install or just don't touch the glass, they will last just as long as any other halogen bulb... But way brighter of course!

Just for reference I had silver star bulbs in my cougar before I retrofitted it for a year, then I sold those used bulbs and they are still working in the person's car I sold them to.

nope, i didnt touch my glass
they blew after a month
i called em for the warranty, and Sylvania says they only have a supposed lifetime of 30 days, 'its normal because its a high performance bulb'

Wow, I'm surprised they told you that. I had Silverstars in my '01 Cavalier Z24 for 2 years and they were still working perfectly when I sold it. The Cavaliers also used the headlamps for DRLs and they still lasted fine.

Thats been my experience too. If you get anything on the bulbs before you install them (grease, fingerprints, ect.) they will burn out right away. Use rubber gloves if you have to, they should last a damn long time if the are installed properly.

Just a note on the Silverstars, I bought mine last august, and they lasted untill about november before I started to notice a serious drop in light output. Now in april they hardly light up the road at all at night. But I may have gotten a bad batch.

Also I lick my bulb before I install it, is that bad?

anyone who has replaced their bulbs, what wattage did u get?
i just picked up a set of noyka 9007 and h11.

9007 = 100/120w
h11 = 100w

i'm worried that they will get too hot, especially since the light housings are plastic.
