Question Installed boost controller and now getting a boost spike

I recently put in a turbosmart boost tee manual boost controller on my car. From factory setting it had me boosting 20 psi. I turned it all the way down so now I boost at 10-11 psi but when I 1st jump on the gas it jumps to 13-14 psi for a second then steadies out after that fine. Is this normal or can anything be done about it? I plan on running a constant 14psi when i get tuned in 2 weeks, would it be better then since this turbo never spiked in boost before it stayed at 11 psi where the turbo was set at. Any input on this would be great.

boost spike on turbos is pretty normal, if 10-11 is the range your wanting then id set it at 10-11 spike until your tuned.

i dont know what type of ECU boost control is installed in ur kit, i know evos have these ECU boost pills that control it, but still spike. weird that ur car WASNT spiking before... it's normal for it to spike tho, it might be doing it cuz you have bypassed whatever it was that was controlling your boost before.

well its just a regular MBC no electronics. Its the gt2860rs turbo that was set to run at 11psi with no spiking before the MBC was installed.

Try cracking it open a bit. It will allow the turbo to produce boost a bit faster but should hold steady at 11ish psi. Boost controllers work best when opened up a bit instead of being completely shut.

What kind of wastegate are you running?

You can only run as low as boost as your wastegate spring.
