Anyone here have a 100% definate answer on the St 1/2 reflash question???

Are the stage 1 and stage 2 relashes identical or are they different?!?! Any Chevy dealers have the instuctions for the stage 1->2 upgrade in their hands and can verify if it says anything about another reflash?

Thanks in advance!!

I did use the search button...for 3 hours...let me sum it up for you:

"Dudes! dont get stage 2 if you have a pulley because the st1 and st2 reflash are the same!"
"Yeah you are right....they have the same part numbers!"
"Yeah the part numbers are the same but when the tech calls GM for the reflash, they specify on the phone which upgrade you are getting - hence the reflashes are different"
"What!? are you sure?"
"I think so..."
"No way man...you have it all wrong...they are the same reflash...my dads buddy's friends's cousin that works for GM says so"
"So are you 100% sure that the are the same?"
"Yeah.....I think so...."
"So does anyone know if they are the same or different??"
"I think it is the same"
"Dude....I think it is different"
"SO no one knows for sure..."
"Ummm....yeah....I think..."

So I checked the GMpartsDirect website and looked at the stage 1->2 upgrade, and they mention another reflash.

Sooo...I am just trying to be 100 PERCENT SURE that the reflashes are the same before I decide to order stage 1 and a pulley....and I use search 95% of the time I am even on this site....dont challange my search Kung-Fu........my style of search Kung-Fu is superior than your search Kung-Fu

No injectors come with the 1 -> 2 kit. Therfore they are the same.

I am just trying to get a straight answer....on the "stage 1 w/ 2.8 dyno" thread, a member says "You should get the stage 2 reflash and you'll be set" Im thinking "What F**king stage 2 reflash!! He already has stage 1! I thought they were the same!! What the F**K!!"

The internet sucks for finding FACTS 90% of it is pure BS

/End rant

And the belt...my bad.

Quoted off the story on the front page -

"The Stage One Kit (P/N 17801947) with a manufacturer's suggested retail price (MSRP) of $500.00, includes higher-flow fuel injectors and an ECU calibration to provide a 31 hp boost to the Cobalt Coupe SS Supercharged and ION Redline Ecotec engine for a total of 236 hp and 205 lb.-ft. of torque.

The Stage Two Kit (P/N 17803229), with an MSRP of $750.00, yields more power through the middle section of the power curve versus the Stage One Kit. The Stage Two Kit includes the parts available in the Stage One Kit and adds a smaller supercharger pulley and drive belt, pushing the engine alive with 241 hp and 218 lb.-ft. of torque across a broad engine speed range. "

THanks...I have read all that when it first came out. But I don't put too much faith in press releases... Besides...500$ cdn for a shorter belt, pully and hub? That seems waayy too steep. Plus..GM Parts direct says right on the site that the upgrade from stage 1 to stage 2 comes with another reflash. I hope they are wrong....and I can stop freaking out about the wishy washy answers.

Well, a lot of guys have the stage 2 installed...you could ask them. Also I believe many more only get stage 1 and go aftermarket on the pulley, and just use the flash from stage 1. Could be wrong though.

Theyre the same, SAME SAME SAME SAME.

7000 rpm redline for both. Programmed for an assortment of pulley sizes.

Just remember, stage1 with aftermarket pulleys could possibly void warranties if things break.
