Odd sound
Odd sound
So I was at the track tonight and did something that I dont normally do and tell others without DRs and LSD not to do. I burned out and redlined the car at 7k to "clean" the tires....well that was the idea anyways.
So the light turns green and I have my windows down and notice the car sounds different than normal. At first I was thinking my exhaust header gasket was blown, but after listening to it a little more it sounds more like the header to DP gasket, even though the car doesnt sound louder. My times were worse after "it" happened.
So now I'm sitting here wondering what it actually is, my thoughts are: head gasket blown, bent valve due to float, clogged/damaged injector, or if I am lucky its just the DP gasket.
So tomorrow I am purchasing a compression tester and likely tearing the motor apart to try and get her back up and running before Monday morning.
Any other thoughts on what it could be? She sounds fine under deceleration, idle, and reving without load. The only time it sounds odd is when accelerating under load. Engine vibration seems normal, engine temp is normal, car accelerates slower. Wishing I had a wideband AFR gauge so I could get some idea of how she is running. Car has 82k, 3k oil change intervals with RP, just changed out transmission fluid with RP last weekend, added RP coolant additive to system last weekend as well.
Any help is appreciated.
Add blown ringland and cracked piston head to the list of things that might be wrong, just went out to check oil and coolant level. Oil smells like fuel.....FML

is the oil milky? is there oil in the coolant? compression test says valves and ringland are ok...do a wet compression test though and check again, if higher then ring problem
other then that im thinking ignition system cause you were telling me earlier that one cyl just isnt firing
check the injector, see if its f'd, etc...

Wet compression test? You mean add oil to the cylinder before testing right?
Drove the car 45mins to Nashville, around the area and back and she still makes the scooby noise....
