That's an interesting setup. It's no longer transversly mounted, so technically it's FWD because the wheels are well, in the front, but mounting the engine longitudally makes it also in a RWD setup because of the orientation of the engine. It's amazing how much money GM dumps into this kind of thing. I think it's great. It'll be interesting to see what happens on the salt flats this season with GM and it's multi-millions and their Saturn, and Chrysler nipping at their heels with 1/50th the budget

It's not "technically" FWD, it IS FWD. Changing the orientation of the engine doesn't change which wheels the power is going to.

A traditional FWD motor (since the introduction of the mini cooper in the late 50's) is a transversely mounted engine with the transmission also being transversely mounted. This arrangements lends very specific characteristics which make getting a substantial amount of power out to the wheels so challenging. Doing it the way the pro fwd car is A: Very smart if you want to compete in the FWD drag class, and B: kinda sneaky because it's not truly a fwd arrangement (think traditional) In all reality it's no different then moving the front engine to the rear of the car but there's something to be said of a car that can do certain things in the stock configuration. That's all I'm sayin

Its a nice setup. They just need to get some bugs worked out of the car. I saw it race in PHX Az.. made a few GREAT passes then had a few problems.. I am sure by mid season they will be good to go.

And traditionally, cars only came in black. Not truly a fwd arrangement?!? how so, if the Front Wheels Drive the car, then wouldn't it be an fwd car?

That's all I'm sayin
