Did you leave the lid off or put it back on ? Which filter (part#) did you install ? What is the "difference" you notice ?

What is the air box mod? I'v heard it around the forums for a long time, but never knew what it was. I ended up just getting a K&N cai, but I'm still curious as to what it is.

The Airbox Mod is essentially making a cold air intake with the stock airbox. You Take the bottom of the plastic airbox cover off and place in a K&N air filter slightly adjusting your stock box for the new filter, make sure its secured with a clamp or some safe means. You then just don't pop the bottom of the airbox cover on and boom cheap col air intake. I did it to mine and it really made the supercharger whine through 2nd and 3rd gears. Feels a litttle stronger in the pulling department too. The only real difference is the steel piping you get in a cold air kit that i see.

Edit* doesn't have to be a k&N filter, i think others have used typhoon's, i grabbed mine at Canadian Tire until I get a K&N cause the place i ordered from keeps not ordering it? Plus this one works fine, Canadian Tire model, 3' diameter i beleive... works good tho.

not to hijack the thread, but i have a brand new fujita cone filter for sale with a stock airbox, well what is left of it, all plastic has been sawed off, and only the bolt holder things remain! $50 shipped if anyone is interested, all you have to do is swap the airbox, and screw the MAS in and your good to go... The filter alone goes for around $50 so this is a good deal for anyone not so sure about an intake yet, better yet, you still have your stock airbox intact....... PM me if interested

Do you guys do the air box mod as a temporary solution or is that your permanent mod? It just seems like you can't get as much flow with that big... thing with a snorkel thing sticking out, as you can with a tube and a filter stuck on the end.

like i said, man, no snorkal on mine....... i had it for about 4 months till i got my intake for xmas...... works great, cheap too, your getting basically a K&N cone, with the airbox... all cut down.... for $50 shipped... it is a fujita brand new in the box, and comes with a clamp... it is dry, so you have not to worry about getting any oil on the MAS

Depends for me its temp, the only thing i worry about is the cold air intake voiding my warranty.

I crossed two pieces of wire through the screw holes that normally hold the bottom piece on. Works good and holds it nice and secure.

Was just a small flexible black wire, i've heard of others using zip ties in this crossed like pattern, others drill a hole up where their k&N clamp screw is in the airbox and tighten it that way to hold it secure, i didn't wanna mark up my airbox so this worked good for me in that sense ( wire crossed and holding it up. )

Does anyone know if the e077 comes with a clamp on the filter end so I could just drill a small hole in the airbox and tighten it down.

if you're going to do the air box mod don't hack apart your air box. here is how one member did it and this is how i'm going to do it as soon as the winter is over.

nice resurrection, you can also drill a small inconspicuous hole for a screwdriver to fit on your clamped air filter like i did. Its a little tough to get it perfect, but it works.

.............Dude you need to go put your lid back on ASAP!!! If your talking about your factory filter its open on both ends so your car is getting unfiltered air. The air box mod works with a cone type filter only.

Ive got close to 20,000 miles on mine since I did it and ive had no problems at all.
