Dealer's Offer on coupe: $10k
Dealer's Offer on coupe: $10k
Went down, test drove, told him what I wanted- Base coupe auto, ABS and Side-airbags. GM friends and family discount+$4k trade in on my crap Olds (worth maybe $800 if lucky). $10k. So tempting!
I have to say I wasn't all that impressed with the test drive. It's not a bad drive, but my current '95 Olds Achieva w/v6 drives a little better. They're actually pretty equivalent, impressive since the v6 is only 155hp. Maybe if I changed the tires on the base model it would help?
Absolutely no room for a normal sized adult to sit in the back, but the coupe has more headroom in the front.
Are they that depserate? Wonder what they actually cost if they can sell me this model for $10k. I wish I could wait for the 2.4L model but I think my Olds will fall apart before then.

Which means they use the markup in the car to shovel value on your trade. Just for fun, tell em you owe 5k on the car. Watch the salesmans face turn white. Oh btw your payment should be in the $200/month range. If it's not, then you're really not getting the car for 10k.
Well I dont know how desperate your dealerships are. But the coupes that come in here that have sunroofs seem to sell in at least 2 weeks. Expecially if they have the leather also. I also am already seeing a lot of cobalt coupes on the road.

Yea a lot of them here as well and the base Cobalts sell a lil above 10K
I say go for it!
Well $10K for a brand new Cobalt Coupe sounds like a pretty good deal. The whole "$4K" trade in thing is just a game that the salesmen play; instead of taking it off the list price, they give you more for your trade to make you feel like your getting an even better deal.
I can understand why you weren't too impressed with the test drive. After all, you were driving a base coupe automatic, not exactly a performance-oriented vehicle.
The biggest question I have is why the hell are you getting an auto?? Unless you drive or live in the city, it just doesn't make sense. You pay $778 extra for a vehicle that is less fun to drive, slower, gets worse gas mileage, and generally won't last as long
Anyway good luck with the purchase, and as most of the others said, for $10K I'd definitely pick it up.
