Modded SS/NA vs. Stock SS/SC

Well i guess it's safe to say that i probably have one of the heavier modded 2.4's on the site, however i went to the dealership for the hell of it yesterday to drive a 2.0 Supercharged.... I wanted to see if i was indeed missing anything...

Well after a short test drive, i must say i was impressed with the 2.0... but not so much its quickness or speed vs. the 2.4

In all honesty, my 2.4 feels like it pulls much harder than the SC. What i did notice were incredibly smoother shifts and the ride quality.

The transmission was a dream compared to the 2.4... im used to slamming into gear, the SC willing let me place it in gear with no resistance. it almost didnt feel right because i was so used to struggling with the shifter.

On the freeway i was doing about 85-90.. the salesman was breakin a sweat, but it felt like i was going 60. the ride was way smoother.. i mean i know i have eibach sportlines but even before i had springs my ride was no where as smooth.

in conclusion, im pissed we didnt get teh same suspension and tranny as the ss/sc

A) Go drive a SS/SC with more than 50 miles on it (less boost)
B) The SS/SC rides much harder than the SS not smoother
C) The only SS/SC that doesn't pull harder than your SS is the one pulling a trailer

Not trying to **** anyone off or to flame but the SS isn't even close to the SS/SC when it comes to power and acceleration.

Given your car is modded you may have what 10HP over a stock SS.

HMM I/H/E can safely say about a 20HP gain not to sure, I haven't been following the number on aftermarket 2.4L parts.

but there should still be quite the difference in Torque numbers that make a difference in acceleration.
what may have thrown off the felling of "pulling harder" is the SS/SC suspension, which is much stiffer then the SS.

I have driven both and can say the ss/sc pulls harder,if you want that out of a 2.4 you better have intake manifold, throtlebody, longtubeheader intake, catback and westers tune and then you might feel the same ride.

All you really have is an exhaust, Intake and a lightweight pulley bro. At least for go-faster mods. What are you talking about? Interesting......

GUys remember he has a lowering kit, strut and sways so his suspension is probably stiffer then the SS/SC stock. The SS/SC definitley pulls harder, I agree the suspension makes it not feel like it's pulling, and BECK you really don't have that much performance mods so I don't think your in any place to say that, unless tinted tail lights adds horsepower I didn't know about. Intake and exhuast is basic, and your suspension stiffin' your car up and might give you that thrown back feel now, but it's not pulling any harder. Your headers might appear to give you more low end, but remember the car you test drove wasn't borken in. My advice to you is....get a turbo kit and shut us all up! lol, good luck

Well considering the SC's all dyno at 215-220whp which is really about 240-250 Crank HP there is a bigger difference in HP then it appears by GMs numbers of 205SC and 171NA...i think it will take more then intake and exhaust to make up the difference.

The 2.4 likely feels more responcive since its NA there isn't that second of lag while the boost kicks in.

Has anyone dyno'd the NA?? is it putting down more at the wheels then its rated for at the crank?

Sorry dude, with those mods, your not going to be anywhere near an SS/SC. Your going to need about an extra 50whp over stock if you wanna play

I thought about picking up a SS for my girlfriend so I drove one a couple weeks ago.

Over all I liked it and the 2.4 was ok but my 2001 Z24 could easily keep up with it.

My only real complaint was the tire size. Going through a corner at a decent speed was sloppy and the sidewalls just flopped over.

id love to see a 2.0 with intense stage 3 and a few bolt on's, vs a turbo 2.4/2.2 with a few bolt ons. So who do you guys think would win? Has it been done before?
