3rd times a charm/lemon?

This is the third time I have had the same problem they have told me 1. Theres nothing wrong, the techs didnt find anything and it started for them. 2. 1 week later. Theres a wiring problem in your fuel pump loop. Reconnected a loose connection, blow my TCM. Takes a week to get here, get put in and get reprogramed. 3. Tonights the third time, about a week or 2 after I got it back. Think I have a lemon on my hands. The problem is that the car will run fine will sit for about a half hour, go to start, fires up and the engine bucks wildly, and dies off and then won't start and has no fuel pressure. Now I have to get it towed again and its going to the same place it went the other 2 times. Should I push the lemon issue. I already called GM after the second time and said that if it happens again I will. Or will they hassle me because of my mods listed in my signature? Thoughts, opinions, etc.? When I call them again tomorrow I'm gonna pull the figure of 144 problems per 100 cars and say "I thought I was buying a reliable car, because I heard so many bad things about the Cavilier, then this car has more problems then I ever imagined, and its bad when I have to wonder each time I go to start it up if it will or if I'll get stranded somewhere." Fast responses are the ****.

I dont think you have a lemon , I think the techs at your chevy dealer are bunch on chodes . I wouldnt be calling GM to push a lemon car , I would be calling to ask why my local chevy dealer with trained certified techs cannot properly fix my car

Its quite hard to pursue the lemon law sucessfully , and your 3 attempts will not get you there .

My best advice is to find another Chevy dealer to go to , if thats an option for you ...cuz lemme tell ya they arent created equal . Theres 5 Chevy dealers here , and only 2 of them are worth a damn as far as warranty repairs go . The other 3 define the term scammers .

I am taking it back to the same place it went the other 2 times so I can have all the records in one spot and for the reason "why can't you fix my problem after 3 times"

The dealerships will follow the lemon law, although sometimes you have to get GM involved. However you have not qualified for the lemon law yet. Kentucky lemon law states:

during the first year or 12,000 miles...
The same problem been worked on 4 or more times without getting fixed or the same defect has kept your vehicle out of service for a total of 30 or more days.

Kentucky only holds the manufacturer to uphold lemon law for the first year, which kind of sucks. Here in Missouri the lemon law applies to the entire factory warranty period.

GM may still allow a lemon exchange on a vehicle outside the first year or 12,000 miles but that would be entirely at their discretion. If you were to try and get them to give you a new car I would try and play stupid and see where it could get me...

Fufilling Lemon Law issues are a pain in the ass. Good luck with what happens.

I personally don't think you have a lemon either.

See would I fall under KY law since thats where the service is being done or would it be PA since thats where the car is registered in my parents name.

And I don't care about screwing GM or anything I just want my car to work right with out any problems and even if it would be a lemon I would want a cobalt back to me since I like the cars just not the problems.

PA has about the same law:

Within the first 12,000 miles of use or during the term of the warranty, whichever may first occur.

It shall be presumed that a reasonable number of attempts have been undertaken to repair or correct a nonconformity if:

1.the same nonconformity has been subject to repair three times by the manufacturer, its agents or authorized dealers and the nonconformity still exists; or
2.the vehicle is out-of-service by reason of any nonconformity for a cumulative total of 30 or more calendar days.

However, the UCC (Federal Uniform Commercial Code) does state that the manufacturer has to honor anything stated in its warranty, which i believe GM will honor lemon law up to the full period of the factory warranty.

Lemon law is fairly easy to enforce in MN anyways. I helped my mother get her focus replaced from a faulty 5th door seal after 5 repair attempts. Just take your work receipts for each time, make sure you know the law, and talk to the dealership management. Don't be stupid, but be firm and make your case. And once your at the lemon limit (depends on your state i think) don't let them try to fix it again.

Call them a little while ago and they tell me the fuel pump has to much impedence or resistance or somethingand is burned out and they need to replace it. this pisses me off because I told them to check it the first time it went in and the second time they said they did and it was fine and now they figure it out
