View Full Version : Removing the stock shift knob on a SS codyss 05-15-2005, 12:21 AM Mine is not straight on for some reason how do you remove it? Thanks tiny 05-16-2005, 04:22 PM and similarly on a 5 spd ls sport coupe also? codyss 05-17-2005, 07:20 PM Well I guess they are pressed on and can be pulled off but it will take a bit of muscles. Maven 05-26-2005, 06:31 PM Its not as easy as other knobs unfortunately....Remove the emblem from the top of the shifter knob. Cut away the protector in the center. Mark and drill a 4 mm hole, 5 mm deep into the knob, 3 mm from the edge. The knob can be removed by screwing a self-threading plate screw with a flat tip (25 x 5.5 mm) into the hole. Remove the shifter knob from the shiftier spline and shifter assembly. to install: Apply adhesive to the knob. Seat the shifter knob over the shifter lever. Ensure the spring and foam rings are correctly seated. Do not operate the lever until the adhesive(Loctite 292 or similar) has dried (approximately 30 minutes). Position and fit the emblem over the shifter knob. I dont know why it has such an elaborate shifter...I think the B&M shifter is the way to go...I dont know if its available yet. :cssNET: JimmiLS05 07-23-2005, 02:38 AM all that just to change a shift knob... screw that lmao zinner 07-23-2005, 02:46 AM Guess I will not be changing the shift knob any time soon  MarcS 07-23-2005, 02:48 AM I was looking at a Hurst T handel shift knob.
