any tried the 15,000 extended performance oil?

I'm curious if anyone has tried the 15,000 mile oil that mobil 1 makes on their SS/SC. My friend with a mini cooper S had his car come with it stock. I would normally avoid not changing the oil for such a long time on a performance car, but his supercharged car comes that way stock, so it can't be all that bad.

Just wondering what everyones thoughts are. It would be nice to not have to change the oil through an entire winter. I haven't looked at prices yet either, but it would be nice if this saved me a few bucks too.

My coworker tried it in his Nissan truck and he said he got a lot of noise from the valvetrain. He said it went away when he went back to regular Mobil 1.

regardless of what oil i use, i wouldnt wait longer than 5000 miles. just bc the oil can last 15000 miles doesnt mean the filter can last 15000 miles. and id rather spend the few extra $$'s to ensure a clean filter and clean oil

Exactly. However, you can change the filters in Cobalts without having to change oil at the same time. In fact, those with CAIs should probably change their oil filter every 3-5k miles if you plan to go by the OLM for oil changes. (I know I will!)

I use it in my wife's Grand Prix. I still change it after 6,000 miles, but it still looks good at 6k miles.

If I went by the oil life system I would get about 12k miles between changes. I usually change it out every 5-6k miles. The oil always looks fine after that kind of interval.
