Help me decide
I'm planning on leasing a new car probably next week. Only thing is....I'm torn between the Cobalt SS or a Saab 9-3.
I mean the SS will maybe cost a lil more, but for the most part the cost will be the same. I don't know what it is, but i just can't decided between the two.
The only issue i have with the Saab is that it may not be fast enough for me. With the SS, I'm not sure if it has that "cheap car feel" to it, but that could go away when I finally see one in person next week. One other thing, the Saab doesnt have any real forums to talk in...which is actually an issue for me b/c im a car nut and would love to talk about my SS if i get one.
So, any help would be appreciated. Thanks

Have you driven both cars?
i think u would be better off with the chevy, if ur a tuner. when i think sabb i think of business type man who doesnt have time to mess with his car, u know take it in to get worked on, instead of doing it himself. the sabb probably has a higher resale value and looks more expensive. its kind of like sports compact vs sport luxury here. dont take my view all hard core though, all i know about the sabb that u want is that it has the same engine but its turbo and they offer it in 3 different styles.
Depends on what you compare it to. The SS is a sports car and has a sports car feel to it. I don't think it feels "cheap" but if you've been driving BMW's and Mercedes then it may be a downgrade as far as comfort goes. Personally I find it very comfortable and a delight to drive.
It has plenty of power to keep most people happy. However, I would like to see some more power comming out of it, but that will come in time with upgrades.
Theres no question that the Saab is more refined(with a much higher price), it does have less overall power though.
If you're looking for a family car, go with the Saab. If you're looking for a sports car.. get an SS

I havent driven either car yet, but that will change next week. I'm all about performance and was (still am) addicted to the GTO boards b/c i was so convinced i was getting one, but thats not gonna happen right now I dont think.
I guess I'm leaning towards the SS, b/c I'm loving what I've read so far about it, but we'll see.
And I driving a Grand Am GT right, not quite a beamer.

I think you'll like the SS if you're driving a grand am right now.
Once you see a SS with your own eyes I think you'll love it.
I used to be wanting a BMW 330ci , and then also was very much considering the GTO ( specially the 05 as it has the 400hp LS2 engine.. and ohhh the V8 sound.. yum),
the 'standard' transmission in the GTO is 4speed auto, and they smack you with a $1300 gas guzzler tax
if you go that way. with the 6speed manual option you dont have the gas guzzler tax, but like nearly $700 for the manual transmission, then you add on 18inch wheel option and you get msrp of at least $34,000
so Cobalt SS S/C for about $10,000 less will be (I think) just as much fun to drive
and better gas mileage.. etc.
so my decision has been made
