blow off valve on supercharged?

blow off valve on supercharged?
is it possible to put a blow off valve on a sueprcharged cobalt? ive used the search engine in the forums and couldnt find any straight answers..anyone know?

my whine isnt that strong...im guessing its becomes more noticable with intake correct? But ya as far as the blow off i was jsut wondering cause my buddies told me it wasnt possible and i thought that it was some reason...oh ya one more thing....do we have a front mount intercooler...i cant tell if its the radiator stacked on an intercooler or AC ...what is it!@?

Yes we have an intercooler(aftercooler), but it is a water to air intercooler just like Cobras, Ford GT ect. not like an Srt-4 which has an air to air intercooler, it is located inside of our intake manifold after the s/c, and the heat exchanger is located between our a/c condensor and radiator

The dex cool (coolant) will flow through the heat exchanger, which is located between the ac condensor and radiator. The coolant cools there, heads to the intercooler pump and pumps the coolant back up to the intercooler.
The intercooler is made up of 4 cores, designed by a company called Laminova. The hot air from the supercharger passes over these cores and will cool the air. The stock intercooler system is rated at I believe 85%. You can use water in this system due to how well it dispates heat, but during winter can freeze up. I believe stock we are to use a mixture of 50/50 of dex cool and water.

Some people are modifying their intercooler system and making it a dual pass. This gets the coolant out of the intercooler itself faster. When the coolant goes in, it will start passing through each core and working its way to the 4th core. By the time it reaches the 4th core it is warmer and thus will not disipate as much heat. By making the system to where it only passes through 2 cores each with two flows, one flow for each pair of cores, it allows the coolant not to heat up as much.

we have a bypass valve, which routes the intake air past the supercharger into the intake manifold so we dont build anymore boost. (similar in application to a wastegate on a turbo)
on a positive displacement supercharger like the roots type we have, a blow off valve is not needed.
a blowoff valve is used to release the excess pressure after the throttle plate has been closed so that it doesnt slam back into the turbine blades (on a turbo or centrifugal s/c) and destroy your precious (and expensive) turbine
so the only thing installing a BOV on our cars would do is make a pointless noise, putting a BOV on our cars is exactly like putting a BOV on a naturally aspirated car..
can we please make this info a sticky or something bc having people ask about BOV's on our cars is kinda gettin really annoying

well i wouldnt know if it would be loud, bc its pointless to install one as it has no purpose so i was just guessing... as evidence by me saying "most likely"

umm.. for the same reason as a turbo we need somesort of bypass/blowoff.
Did you knwo that our bloweres have about 80% less parastic effect while the bypass is open?
it is NOT POINTLESS. By reducing the pressure on the blades, it takes MUCH less effort to spin.
This is the main reason to have BOV too, to reduce compressor surge.
Ours just rerouts it, while a BOV vents it.
