I-75 south this morning? (dayton)

Saw a silver SS pulled over on the side of the rode, just after a jack-knifed tractor-trailer. Just curious if it was anyone on here.
-It was southbound 75 around the Main St exit about 05:45 this morning.

That was all me on my way home from work (third shift). My co-worker (tan malibu) and I were on I75 south when we came up on a jack knifed rig on the right. We both got over and drove slowly around it when another trucker came up behind us and didn't see that we were going somewhat slow. There is no traffic at 5:10 in the morning. I don't understand how he didn't see it if we could see it sitting as low to the ground as we do. He hit the malibu (it's totaled) and my car but the malibu and cobalt never hit. He pushed the malibu clear and then hit me so he hit us both pretty hard. Everyone is okay, but like I said, the malibu is trashed and my car isn't far behind. My rear bumper is toast, my passenger rear quarter panel is pretty messed up, my rear tire and 18 incher was TURNED 45 degrees LEFT so something in the rear suspension obviously snapped too. I don't think the car is ever going to be right again, I hope it is totaled. Even then I can't replace the 0% financing, the money down, the gms discount I used can only be used once a year.....so in the long run I lose. I have gap coverage that will pay it off after the insurance company puts in what they think it's worth. The driver was issued a citation but the DPD didn't give us any information from him. He said to have our insurance companies contact DPD for the info but they won't release any reports for 3 to 7 days. Which means I have no idea who hit me, his insurance company or anything. I'm sitting at home with no rental and my car is up at langs not having anything done until this police report is out. How hard could it be for the officer to just tell us who his insurance is? The officer didn't ask either of us if we needed medical attention, didn't get us a ride off the highway either. My girlfriend had to come pick us up on the side of the road which was a half hour drive for her. We stood in the RAIN for over an hour in 50 degree weather. I called my insurance company to ask about a rental and realized I do not have rental coverage so if I get one I have to pay out of pocket until his insurance picks up. If I want work started I have to pay my deductible. Anyone have any good advice?

my advice is call DPD, and try and get them to tell you his info! That is ridiculous that they wouldnt give you any info. If they wont give it to you, sounds like you could be screwed.

I tried calling. Talked to 3 different extremely rude people that were unwilling to help. Looks like I'll be staying in this weekend!

Still no luck with finding out who this guy is. Looks like I'm stranded without a car until the police report comes out so I can find out who his insurance is. It's going to be a LONG holiday. My insurance sent out an adjuster and the damages are around 8K. Thats around half the value of my car, which certainly makes me feel worse about it.

Still no rental, and no work done on the car. DPD isn't exactly in a hurry to get accident reports done, so I still have NO information about the semi drivers insurance, his name, or the company he works for. I guess after the paperwork is filed (if that EVER happens) it can take up to an extra week just to get someone to slap it on a fax machine for the insurance companies that are waiting on it. The records department (or whatever they call it) was closed thursday and friday so I would imagine they are extremely backed up and 2x further behind on records than last week. I'm going on week two with no car. This has turned into a sick joke and I'm not laughing. I can't believe that the officer would not just give us a name, we asked 3 different times and got the same answer. I wonder if officers have to protect his privacy for some reason until a public report is issued. To better things, what little stereo equipment I did have in the car was taken out (by me) and put in our other car (just loose in the trunk) and was stolen in 3 hours. I figured I would get it out in the morning, since I just got in from work and there was only a few hours left until daylight. Does anyone know anyone at the DPD that can help? I'm getting pretty frustrated here! I thought about putting insurance and tags on the z-28 but found a dead electric waterpump, so I'm not going to go that route. I really don't want to spend money on tags, insurance, and waterpump right before christmas because some guy tried to drive a 80,000lb rig with his eyes closed.
