I'm wondering if anyone has done their own hone/port on a stock manifold and what they used to do it with, etc.

If I wanted a better job than GM offers. I would first go to a local machinist and have them hone out the narrowest points of your stock manifold.

I would then contact extrude hone and send them your manifold for finish honing and blending. The extrude hone process forces a viscous abrasive liquid through the manifold in the direction of exhaust flow, while traditional honing leaves hone marks radial to the flow.

Call the extrude hone location closest to you to get a price quote.

Personally, I would just get a header. For $199 you can't beat the CA stainless shorty for performance and value. I know you're not concerned about your warranty, as your cams already take care of that.
