Angry I`m pissed. Dealer screwed me!

Went to pick up my car today....................No car!
I was to get my car through a dealer trade and that didn`t happen.
Here is the short version.

Thurs. Go in to buy a Cobalt. They don`t have any, so start searching.
They find a black one at this **** hole of a place,PAUL SADLON Motors in BARRIE ONTARIO.
They said if it dosn`t sell Thurs nite its yours.
Fri. Confirm that they will trade the car and i`m happy.
Like pulling teeth they get nothing on Sat, no info. After several calls they say the guy is not in today and noone here can help you. I guess nobody at That shithole of a dealership, PAUL SADLON MOTORS in BARRIE ONTARIO has the capacity to fax an invoice.
But i spend 6 hours in traffic on a long weekend to go sign the papers anyway. Excited to have my car on Tues.
Sun. closed
Mon. Holiday.
Tues. Take the day off work to go pick up the car and BAM! my salesman shows me a fax from that other fuckup of a dealer. " sorry to trade on te black cobalt, it has been sold"

And there you have it. A really dirty kick in the *****. Thanks alot Pual sadlon motors you ********! Everyone now knows not to do buisness w/ ****** like you!

So now my guys at GOLDEN MILE MOTORS on EGLINGTON in TORONTO have started to bust there ***** again to find me one. I hope so soon. Cause I`m ready to kill someone!

So exactly how where you screwed? At the most some of your time got wasted.

If you wanted that car you should of went to that dealer and bought it there. I had the same thing happen to me, but I am not bad mouthing the dealer on an internet board because of it. You need to calm down and just find another car.

Ummm, when the other dealer agrees to do the trade then i would assume its on its way. You don`t say i can have it, then sell it on me and not tell me for four days. I drove 6 hrs sat to sign the papers. then take the day off work on Tues to go get it and get handed a fax that says "sorry, trade is off, we sold the car on Fri" that is just dirty!
Its based on principle and class. the way i live life and treat peolple. I went there cause there a club sponsor and I got an even better deal than normal.

Those guys at Golden Mile must really be good salesmen. They not only convinced you this isn't their fault, you are defending them.

Well, in the US selling an item with a pre-existing selling agreement would be very illegal. I don't know CAN law but it may benefit you to speak to a lawyer.

Actually on a mutually agreed upon dealer trade, it was no longer the other dealer's car to sell...at least not without clearing it with the dealership picking up the car and only after getting the OK from the customer. It's not like they were dealer trading because someone was interested in looking at the car, they were trading because someone had agreed to purchase the car. When the dealer said the trade was a go, the car should have been pulled from the lot or marked with a "SOLD" sign...something to indicate to potential buyers that that car wasn't available.

I'm sure the regional GM rep would LOVE to hear about that, because reneging on a dealer trade is not looked upon kindly, you're pissing off a customer and making another dealership look bad in the process. It's looked upon as pretty much the same as selling a car that someone ordered from the factory would be.

Most dealers are fair and honest, and won't pull crap like this but some (obviously) do. It'll eventually come back to bite them because other dealers realize they're snakes and next time they need a car, they'll take their trade elsewhere.

I never got my order... at least you almost had yours!

Back on December 3, 2004, I ordered an arrival blue base Cobalt coupe through Adirondack Chevrolet/Buick/Pontiac in Elizabethtown, NY. I figured I'd buy it there because my mom had bought a Silverado there, my brother and father worked there and I might get a better deal. Anyways, I waited and waited for this car. Finally, in March my brother calls me up and tells me that my car just rolled off the truck. (He is a service tech there and a damn good mechanic). So i hop in the old reliable Cavalier and head over the mountain. I get there and there's my car! I am all smiles, man! My first new car! So I take a look at it, and it's... an automatic??? Without a sunroof??? What gives?

So I go inside and start talking to the salesman. He hits me with, and I quote, "We figured we couldn't work with your Cavalier, so we changed the order to something we could sell." (Here's standard transmission don't sell). I was blown away. I asked him what made him think that I wasn't going to be able to get the car in the first place? He just shrugged and said, "we can still do the paperwork up on it."

So, after a couple of months of bitching and moaning and gnashing of teeth, I toddled down to Hometown Chevrolet in Whitehall NY and started the papers on a black base coupe. No sunroof . I didn't even drive the Cobalt before I bought it. I walked on to the lot, pointed to a white base coupe with no spoiler and the black one I bought and said start the paperwork. Three days later, I drove it home. The next day, I made a point to go out to the original salesman and show him the car. His boss (the guy who owns the dealer) was standing there and I made a point to tell him the whole story. He was not impressed.

Some dealerships are awesome, others suck *****. I've bought three cars from Hometown Chevy... I suppose they've got my business for a while!
