Chipped paint

So I took in my 06' Balt for the fuel injector recall and asked the guy about the silver trim pieces on my dash and around my power window switches...and also the silver radio having paint chipped. I asked him if it was under warranty....and to my surprise, it was! But he told me that he would go ahead and order the whole trim set and a new radio and hvac panel because the shade of silver would be a little different! Chevy must have had problems with this and added a clear coat??? that makes it a different shade? Anyone else have this problem?

Mine started flaking off about 3 days after I got it, but since I manage a collision center I just painted them myself. Just FYI, those pieces do not have a clear coat. The clear coat is what give paint its gloss. I am thinking about making all the silver except the stereo black. Tell me what you think

I got mine replaced under warranty as well. So far the new ones haven't chipped, but the dealership broke the little plastic tab inside the door handle when they installed it... So I'm going to have to get that replaced or something.

I plan on buying the red interior trim over the summer anyway, but I still want the original pieces to be fixed.

It has some in the paint!
The paint quality isn't the problem, the parts weren't primed before they were painted!
The new ones you got should hold up alot better then the old ones.

Had to have mine replaced as well; Stealership told me that there is an announcement (?) or something... he said all the stealerships should know about the problem, and will replace any chipping/flaking/bubbling (in my case) painted pieces inside the vehicle... BE CAREFUL however because some of them (like in my case) don't know how to change the panels without breaking the clips that hold them in place! grrr. so you will have to wait for them to order more of THOSE as well.... sigh but in the end it now looks all mint and I haven't had any problems since. The end. haha
