Valve Springs and Gearing

Does anyone make valve springs for these cars so we can rev them out higher safer? also what about gearing? Anyone have a taller first gear out for these?

There's a few places with valve springs, like JBP which is in your back yard. you can get GMPP Staged kit 2 and 3 both increasing raise your rev limit. The Grand Am Cup Cobalt SS/SC has a taller first gear.

Supertech ferria bates have them. You might also consider neutral balance shafts aswell to accomadate the higher Revs.

with the stage 3 pcm you can raise your redline but its not wise to do so past the stage 2 limit as the valves will float around i believe 7400-7600rpm

Two different questions. I'll do the valve springs.

Many places make aftermarket valve train components for the Ecotec. My personal recommendation is Ferrea. They make a complete remove and replace set. With your LSJ engine, your valves (exhaust at least) are fine. You would do best with just a spring upgrade, and then use the GMPP adjustable timing gears. Ferrea's springs are dual coil and have a static pressure of 85 psi. You can get spring seats for them that bring that up to 120psi, but that it not for street use (drag engines). They can lift to over .5" and rev to over 8000 RPM. You would also need their retainers.

Other manufacturers are Bates Engineering, JBP (somebody makes them for JBP, but I don't know who), and others I can't remember right now. Patriot performance also sells a head with upgraded springs. I don't know who they use.
