It's 6 quarts. Should say in the fluid capacities section of the manual.

Why did you sell the Evo? Not many Cobalt owners downgrade like that.

Not sure if you mean the supercharged car, or the supercharger itself. The car takes 6 quarts. The supercharger itself does not need its oil changed. It's a self-contained unit, supposed to be good for at least 100k.

Wrong.

it does need to be changed...

The Grand Prix has a m90 and we have to change it once every 50k.

I changed it once every 30k in mine.

Show me where it says that the oil has to be changed in the LSJ superchargers regularly. Gen 3 M90s are not exactly the same as the Gen 5 M62s. Changing it every 30K is a waste of time.

You don't have to change the oil in these cars every 3k miles and yet alot of people do, it's not really a waste of time it's more of a piece of mind. Is there really an oil out there that doesn't get worse with time?

Since we are on the subject...when you change your oil does the %oil life reset itself or do we gotta do it manually? If so , how?

No go to the oil life and hold the reset button, or you can turn it to the on position and engage the throttle 3 time.

as for changing the supercharger oil I know im gonna be changing mine every 15,000 for peace of mind, to anyone that does not believe in changing it good luck to ya.

Not a waste of time, I read somewhere that its supposed to be changed every 30,000 miles also, I think its in the manual

Mine takes about 6.5 quarts. You may or may not have to remove the supercharger depending on your mechanical skills. I personally take it off. It is just easier for me to change the filter that way. Make sure you use a fully synthetic oil. That is what it came with and that is what you must keep using. 7 quarts of mobil1 plus a filter is about $55 if you do it yourself.

On another note, you should change your oil every 3000 miles. Although synthetic oil can safely carry you 5000 miles under normal driving conditions, the oil filter is only rated for 3000.

Mine takes about 6.5 qts. I usually change it when the oil life monitor gets down to about 30%.

no. you do NOT have to remove the s/c. especially if your mechanical skills are not up to par. you need to remove the wire harness from the sensor directly above the oil filter so you can get the socket down there, and you snake your hand under the blower inlet and fish the filter out of there. yes you will scrape the hell out of your arm.

sorry for the rant. i just hate hearing of people taking off their s/c for a stupid oil filter...

noooo wayyyy do you have to take the supercharger out to get to the filter.. you need an 1.5in bolt wrench and and foot extension to it...it slids right up past the supercharger. Twist it loose with a rachet and then stand on the driver fender and use your left hand to go under the supercharger to queeze through the little maze. its really that easy.. oil doesnt come pouring out like the evo did, its ten times faster and easier to change then getting on the ground and trying your harrest to try and twist the filter off

i put 6 in... havent checked the dip stick yet put ill buy another quart since ive heard with stage 2 and hp tune your gonna burn a little oil here and there..
