People keep talking about L, I, and D gears?

L = Low - 1/2 Gears.
I = Intense - all gears, 2+ keeps rpm's between 2k and shifts at 4k when not WOT.
D = Drive...

Is this only in cobalts? My Equinox only has Park, Reverse, Neutral, Drive, L4, and L2.
Am I missing something?

L4 and L2 are for going up/down steep hills right? I always use Drive, never see a reason not to?

i would imagine...most of the selections other than P, R, N, and D, are to change to lower gears

a lot of cars have 1, 2, 3, whereas cobalts have L (1-2) and I (2-3), and yours has L2 and L4.

Durrrr...

Is your Equinox 4 wheel drive? L4 for low 4 wheel drive, L2 for low 2 wheel drive. A two wheel drive vehicle will never have an L2 or L4.

I have a 2.4L SS/NA I can launch it really good by putting it in neutral at a dead stop then reving to about 3000 rpms then quicly shift to L it launches the car like crazy no wheel hop at all, then put it in drive after. I have used this technique in many races and it has helped very much

Probably the next one will be the last one for your torque converter!

good idea...its hell on your transmission

just press the brake firmly, hit the gas a bit, and release the brake on the green light....dont hold the gas and brake together for too long....it heats up tranny fluid like none other...maybe 2-4 seconds max

My 05 LS has 1,2,D instead of L,I. It works the same, just the label is different.

Equinox doesn't come in 4WD only FWD and AWD. I have the FWD version.

L(1-2 with no Traction Control), I(1-3 with Traction Control), D(1-4/OD with Traction Control and programmed to use the Highest gear possible when shifting)

No kidding. Try a brake start instead. The power is already at the wheels and you run less of a risk of snapping something.

as stated, this is a really, really bad idea. i would follow your advice and never do that again

o, and "I" is not intense. It's intermediate.
