Kaiso's clutch

Hey Mike/Cody

Well they pulled my trani apart to swap out the clutch and we found that the CM clutch and Fidanza flywheel were OK. On the other hand though, the throw out bearing was BOO COO F**KED UP. The fidanza fly wheel had some scoring on it but it was not bad. the clutch disk is in good shap as well as the pressure plate. I told him to go ahead and replace everything as I do not want any futher problems down the road. I am going back to the dealer to see if they will warranty the Slave/throwout bearing maybe my labour . (Wish me luck )

Now there was a grove in the bell housing from the pressure plate though. It was not very big or deap so I am not to worried. I also had the trani shop put synthetic gear oil in my trani so hopefull that will help with smoother shifting along with the new clutch.

Sorry to jack your thread Mike. Just thought I would post it here as you and I are talking clutches.

No. I get it back this afternoon. I am also interested to see how it shifts. Cody, you told me that when you had the clutch replaced that you did not change the Slave/Throw out bearing right?

Just curious. Because the bearing is really f**ked.

Cheers

to be totally honest,

i dont know if the CM came with a new throwout bearing or not... I was in such a hurry to get the new clutchy and flywheel in, i didnt think about it.. or look for it.. the CM clutch kit came in two boxes though... one box with the clutch and another with other parts... like the slave cylinder and maybe the TO bearing..... but im not sure.....

im guessing that it didnt though... and that it was the stocky that was still in there and that got fucked up.......

I think it is the stock one but can't be sure. I will post latter on the results once everything is in. There was also some slight rubbing of the pressure plate on the bell housing.

Cheers

Yeah we both were told to go easy on it for 1000kms of shifting. But mines not in yet, his is. I might goto race city this weekend and left this clutch get it's ass kicked heh. But i just found out, that a few parts on my just just broke off, i was wondering why i was over boosting. Larry runs 15 or 16 can't remember and i'm at 17 psi sometimes 17.5. And my engine is making a flickering noise too. i got no luck any more man...

The Car runs great. Solved the problem last night with the squeeling throw out bearing. I still have some problems shifting into 5th but suspect that it is the shift linkage that needs re-adjusting. Other than that it is running about similar to the OEM clutch and shift engagement.

Cheers.

Very happy. The clutch disk was almost worn to the rivets and the throw out bearing was practically falling apart. I re-adjusted the shift linkage and now all the gears slide in smothly.

So once I break it in I will be back at the track.

lol thanks for the compliment... i most likely wouldnt make any improvements to ur times though. You have very consistant runs which show that your driving very well!! Your probly at that limit where you cant improve any without making some changes or more modifications...

Perhaps... I still think I'll be able to cut a better time with just a little more practice and a bit more $$$ thrown under the hood. I'll probably try one more night at the track before the new clutch/flywheel goes in.

I'll be at race city next weekend. We'll see what we can do... The reason u missed second gear cody was because i broke my pin before u race it that night haha. the shifter shaft pin hehehehe.

yeah that makes sense... becuase it was really hard getting it in second and third gears lol....

oh well..

now you should be able to make some good runs too... your car is capable of a 13.9 second pass in calgary with your mods... and ur tires are pretty decent... i did a quick half second dry burnout with them and they hooked good that first run. Next time try doing a 1-2 sec dry burnout and then see how ur traction is in 1st... might cut a 2.1 if u launch at low rpm and roll onto the throttle as traction allows....

If you're doing a dry burnout, do you have to let the guys staging know what you're about to do? I always go around the burnout box, but I never do a burnout after. Maybe that would help with my 60 ft times.

no u dont have to let them no... I always drove around the box, and then straightened out, and then did a quick spin of the tires to get off any rocks and crap that are on my tires...

but after reading on this board... some guys are doing a little bit more than a quick scuff and their tires are reacting good to the quick heat up.... and getting better traction.

might be worth experimenting a little bit...

when i did my scuffs, i never spuns the tires more than 4-5 revolutions, just did a little clutch drop with throttle for like 1/4 second and let off....

so try going 1-2 seconds and that should be enough.
