Hey there
I'm Brian.
On Friday August 31 2007 I became the proud papa of a 2007 Victory Red Cobalt SS S/C. To be brutally honest, my purchase was very much impulse. I had returned from a cruise earlier in the week to find my 2001 Impala dead and unjumpable.
The Impala looked great, was fully loaded and had only had 68k on the clock which was well below average. For the past couple months I began to have this weird feeling that it was on the decline and and would turn in to a money pit in no time.
I had been cruising craigslist passing the time at work and found myself longing for something more fun, less family of four and more sporty and young feeling. I was looking at everything from Camaro SS's to MB SLK's but never got the ***** to look at any in person.
Well my feelings about getting a new car changed from exploratory to all out when I came back to find the Impala dead and had to have it towed to a local shop. My girlfriend suggested calling her dad whose the Finance Manager at a local GM/Buick dealership (duh?!) to see what specials they had. We discussed what payment range I was looking at and he wanted me to come up to look at base Cobalt Ls's and possibly some Malibu's as well.
Not drop your pants and hop in to bed thrilling to say the least. I scoped out the new and used inventory and immediately found the red SS. The ad obviously wasnt critically scanned for accuracy advertizing a 2007 Cobalt SS with a 2.2L 148hp engine. I figured the car to be the n/a 2.4 SS model and it was priced just under KBB for that model.
I went up wed of last week to meet with him and his salesmen. They thought they were showing me the bore machines we had talked about over the phone. I made a beeline for the SS. GORGEOUS! I feel in love. Bright candy paint, big aggressive rims and tires, and the smaller non-atrocious rear wing. As I rounded the back of the car to my surprise was the Supercharged lettering sitting so pretty on rear trunk-lid.
I had the biggest **** eating grin you've ever seen.
A 2007 Cobalt SS S/C GM certified used with 3,200 mi showing on the digital read out. I test drove and that was that. Took it home thursday night and came back friday to put pen to paper.
I hope this isn't out of line, but I got such an amazing deal on this car I feel like I can't not share... at least a little...
Without giving an exact figure...Like I said, the sticker was slightly under what KBB used vaule was for a n/a SS with the same mileage and excellent condition. With the extended 6 yr 72k warranty with coverage for window, tire and wheels and before downpayment I drove away in a car costing $200 dollars over its dealership auction value. After downpayment, I own a beautiful almost brand spanking new SS for $250/mo.
I gotta admit, this was my first experience in the "its all about who you know" realm.
I haven't lost that **** eating grin since. It may last quite a while...
Not sure if these pictures are gonna work but here we go...
Corny picture taken minutes after finishing up the paperwork. Excuse my terrible bum-liked appearence. Thats what you get at 7 AM on a day with no work and no school

I didn't pick the color since it is a "used" car, however slighlty that may be. I just lucked into a really great car at an amazing price.
