This is all old hat by now I know, but I thought people would like to see these articles nonetheless. Be warned though, that the 0-6mag.com site has a habit of sucking on CPUs like a zombie.

Not so Slowbalt
The Cobalt SS goes turbo for 2008 with 260hp Ecotec.
The Chevy Slowbalt Cobalt SS though an admirable performer, somehow fell in the cracks (save for dragstrips and WTCC) after its notable “Corvette’s little brother” tv ad campaign. So for 2008, GM will stick the mighty 2.0L direct-injected, turbo and intercooled motor found in the Solstice GXP, Sky Redline and soon-to-be released HHR SS. Stay tuned for more info!

“…goes like hell.”
So Says “Maximum” Bob Lutz
Chevrolet has just released information and pictures for their HHR SS model, and according to Bob Lutz, “when necessary [the HHR SS] …goes like hell.”. Works for us.
Power comes thanks to the General’s turbocharged 2.0L ecotec lump that is also be found in the Solstice GXP and Sky Redline. As evidenced in this video, suspension tuning was done over at the N’ring, and with a manual transmission, the HHR SS appears to be a fairly competent package. Also included with the SS trim, is an A-pillar boost gauge. Nice. The looks aren’t too shabby either, with SS specific body-styling and interior treatments. The car truck retro-inspired vehicle is slated to hit showroom floors by the fall.
Hat tip to Jalopnik.
