I fried my alternator...again
so i fried my alternator again, this time im going to do it rite, High output alternator, yellow top, and another cap. What are my options for a new HO alternator for the cobalt?
Theres a place near my job, off of sterling and I-95 actually, that can rewind the alternator to be higher amp. Or you can check if one from a different chevy vehicle fits, like a truck one.

well, unfortunatly i kno why its fried, i started using this one before i had any caps and i must have burnt it bak then
and its just been getting gradually worse. You guys think i should just run another stock alternator? i guess i should be ok now that im not strapped for cash and can do things the rite way, but i need to fix this ASAP before my car just decides to die at idle. It goes below 10V rite now and my lights flicker like crazy below 1500RPM.

Original...let us know if it works better than the whimpy stock one. I started a thread about ho alternators, and nobody knew a place that sells them. My regulator is really acting crazy. My amp is driving my 2 12" kicker cvr's at a 2 ohm load...drawing a lot of current.
I was running Four Soundstream 12's without much issue at all
alright, here is the update, i purchased/installed a new stock alternator and so far have had no problems. I upgraded to an optima yellow top with a 2 farad cap. You would be surprised how much good wiring and good grounds affect things. Now im running 3 amps (2 800W mono amps and a 40x4 amp) with little to no headlight dimming. I guess i learned the hard way not to cheap out with your system.
