first dealership warrenty experiance, not impressed
this is the first "new" car ive owned, and the first time i have ever dealt with a shop to have work done on a car. being a mechanic by trade, i do everything myself, but having warrenty and no time, i thought id just get the dealer to look at the little anoyances with the car.
took the car in this morning to have the drivers door handle issue fixed (handle not working every so often) and back seat squeak fixed. when i dropped it off, they informed me that would also be performing the a-piller padding recall. i work at a transmission shop a block from the gm dealer. a couple hours after i dropped it off, one of my co-workers comes back from a roadtest and tells me he saw my car being driven in a rather agressive manner. i kinda shrug it off for the time being. i got a call 4 hours later from gm saying my car is ready so i walk over to get it, sign the invoice grab the keys and leave. when i got to my car i notice what looks to be spray lube on the drivers door, likley excess from spraying the latch. got into my car, notice they seemed to put a new miles on it, 35km to be exact. look at my fuel mialage, when i dropped it off it was at 8.8l/100km, it was now at 10.2l/100km, meaning they were driving the **** out of it. i went back in and spoke to the service manager, he tried to offer me a free oil change, i told him id be speaking with the owners and walked out.
now as a mechanic i feel this is completly unprofessional. every so often i get a troublesome job in and have to drive it 20-30km to replicate a transmission problem, and then i always still feel a little guilty for it, but im genuinly trying to determine the problem. how many km do they need to drive a car to replicate a squeak that happens over every bump??? also i quite often have to drive a car hard to replicate problems, however in this case that wasnt an issue, it would rattle over every bump, i bet the tech heard it leaving their parking lot. and not cleaning up the spray lube is just sloppy workmanship.
going to try to get ahole of a manager/owner tomorow, im not impressed.
