squeeky wheel, wtf

over the past maybe 2 weeks or so my front driver side wheel has been squeeky. anyone have this before? i'm going to try to look at it in the morning, if i have time before work. \\

WHat i have to work with:

it does it at all speeds, doesn't matter if i'm in gear or not, only when going straight, doesn't do it when turning.

any ideas?

Brake pads I had 18,000 miles and my car did the same thing and the squeek will get worse there is a small metal plate that rubs on the disc telling you to replace the pads before you have to replace the disc. get the brake pads checked or pull the tire off and look for yourself. I let mine squeek for one day and that was enough

no idea. i was looking for ideas before i check i'm not sure what it could be. it's definitely coming from the front right wheel though. you can only hear it with the window open, it's not that loud. with the window closed you can't hear it at all.

i would say your rotors need to be resurfaced and check the pads. if your driving on the hwy and you hit your brakes does your steering wheel shake?

not at all. i rarely even use the brakes. i downshift and coast to a stop more than i use the brakes hands down.

well reading through one of my car maintenance books it looks like it is the brakes. sounds like the exact symptoms i'm seeing. guess i'll check them out and see how they look.

my guess would either be

a. rotor and brakes comming in contact

b. faulty wheel hub

You could bend the little tab away for now until you have time to change the Pads.
That way you dont have to listen to the squeaking!

check your hubcaps to see if they are tight and drive close to the sidewall on the hwy and see if you can hear a constant squeek, tsb for that
