Does the first one have any post-processing, or was that straight outta the camera?

Post processing....anymore hardly anybody that I know of relases a photo without at least a little post processing. Second one has no post processing other than cropping.

I suppose, #1 does have a very gloomy affect, and I kinda dig the affect.

#2, I think overall you did the best you could with the exposure. Its def. a difficult scene to expose. But I really don't care for all the noise you got in the room. I think you could have gone a little brighter with your exposure as you lost alot of detail in the top & bottom of the tree too. I would have like to see more exposure in the room, but the only way you could have acheived that would be with an extra flash or 2 diffused and pointed upward. But, its a good start, just a bit underexposed.

Looks like a lost detail because there was no lights on the top or bottom of the tree the town I live in sucks at decoration apprantly.

Yes, like I said, given the scene, your exposure is pretty good. None of the christmas lights are really blown out like the lamppost light is. Keep up the good work, practice is the only way to get better.

I hated the reflection from that one light on the left of the christmas tree but I thought it gave off the effect of a star so I thought it worked out well.
