Cobalt SS/SC ideling issue

I got a 2005 SS/SC with 5,000 miles on it so far...here's my problem...when I start the car for the 1st time everyday the tachometer drops way down almost to zero and the idle drops way down too...then the tac and idle go way up past 1,000 rpms...then drops to the normal ideling position...and the engine catches again and is fine...all this happens when Im simply sitting in nutral in my drive way not even trying to pull out...and mostly only happens the 1st start of the day...any time after that I start it...its fine as its been warmed up...it did it a few times over the summer but now with the cold here its doing it everday...I cant ignore it anymore...I also use Amoco ultimate 93 octane everytime I fill up...so it's not cheap or the wrong octane gas...what do you guys think it is...just the ideling or timing needs raised up?

This happens to a lot of people on here. I'd let your dealers service dept. know.

They update the computer codes that tell your car how to run. Quick and easy, they just plug into the OBDII port under the dash and upload the new codes.

Engine Idle Problem

Take your car to the dealership and tell them you need your ECU to be updated with the TEC-2, itll add some codes to your car (including a rough engine idle code) and after that it works mint

I just realized how hard owning a new car would be if you had no knowledge at all about cars. Like holy crap so many ppl know nothing how does the car survive? I mean my car would be toast if i didnt bring it in like 15 times already.

I'm having sort of the same issue. After I drive for a while and I get to a light or something, my cars idle is weird. It goes from 400 RPM to 1000 RPM back down to 400 then back up and does it a few times then stops. Should I take it to the dealership and ask about the re-flash?
