Cel

i got a CEL tonight and i was tired of having to go to autozone to read it so, this time when i went to autozone, i bought an OBDII reader. when i got home, i plugged it in and i got code 335 (craknshaft position sensor circuit A malfunction) i was like WTF. then i cleared the code, but i havent got a chance to drive it around yet to see if it would come back on. i dont know if it matters or not, but before i got the CEL i was driving kinda hard and then it went into "limp mode" and it was idleing really weird. can anyone add to this?

Had it happen to my SS SC a couple of weeks ago. I was pulling away from a stoplight getting on it really hard and my tac went dead. The engine also went into GM's famous limp mode. Later, I went to the dealer and their OBDII reader showed a malfunction of the crankshaft position sensor and the knock sensor. Their techs and I all agreed that these two sensors tripping at the same time seemed weird. So, they cleared the codes and ordered those sensors just incase mine really were bad. I've driven the car a ton since then and haven't had a single problem. I have no idea why it did what it did.

Crashing into the rev-limiter has been known to knock the cam position sensor out of place (verbiage used in the Redline forums). I'm not really an expert on that but from what I understand you have to take it to the dealer to have them reposition it. I crashed into the rev-limiter once and had it go into limp mode shortly after. I will try my best not to do that again.

My parents base cobalt went into limp mode 50 miles from anything in wyoming, they had to limp to the next town which had a gm dealer thank god. They did some diags and said that the throttle assembly (the pedal end) was scrrewed up so they re set the comp and it let them drive at full speed back to colorado where they promptly took it to our local dealer and had them replace the throttle.

check with the dealer and see if there is either a tsb about a "cam sensor replacement" ........ with the RL there was a tsb about this and we have had no other problems about it.
