Why does my transmission seem to "hang" or delay upshifts when cold?also when i start car when cold the rpms are at 1000 and wont go down for like 5 plus min
yeah mine wont either i think its cause they use like really thick oils like if you run a thick oil in your car for winter its harder to start then if you use a thinner oil same with our tannys the oil is thick until it warms up it pisses me off somethings ahhhahahhah
i aint sure but the reason for the thicker oil is that because of the performance of the car so there are certain oils that can be used only in it which in most cases are thicker oils to protect the tranny if you know what i am getting at its just one of those things with a sports car during winter temps and such
When your car is cold just starting up, it will idle higher (1k about) to help get the engine flowing. Assuming you have an auto transmission, there might be a slight delay because it is not warmed up either.
hahahah there you go its like 8 degrees here in michigan tongiht and that big as snow storm is coming your way sunday and by me so watch out man
i believe he has a stick aka manual

**** i should just read your sig hahah sorry about that to the other guy but auto is a whole different story but could possibly be exactly what i was telling you should check and make sure the tranny fluid aint burnt also
most automatics in newer cars have a cold algorithm programmed into them to delay upshifts. this is actualy for emmissions, if the motor is at higher rpm with less load it will run cleaner during warmup and get the cat and motor up to running temperature faster.
as fo high idle, its cold, itll idle high
as fo high idle, its cold, itll idle high
mines been this way too since i got cold. in a manual trans its harder to shft when its cold, sucks big ones... i think the only options are different oil? or remote start.. even though ur not suppose to have it on a manual
every car has a cold temp program.. its called closed loop idle and RPM operation.. basically the cat hasnt fired off yet so the car dosent really know if it's runnin lean or rich.. so it retard's timing's on the motor's part.. as far as the tranny IDK cause the fluid's in the tranny no matter how cold should have no issue's engaugin.. cause 99% of automotve fluid's are ment to work BELOW freezing temp's.. that i know for SURE..
