custom paint cost

gotta be some body guys out there. this is a mod i'm planning for the future, maybe next summer or something. what would it cost (approximately) to get a two-tone car. I'd keep my stock orange on the bottom and get the top painted black with a white pin stripe to separate the two colors. Also, the black would wrap around the headlights to give eyelids.

3500 to 5000 depending on choice of paint.

it depends on what kind of paint you want and how much materials cost, and what body work needs to be done, if any. I got an estimate for that kind of job for $3000, which isn't bad, I thought. The top was going be a grey like the color of the SS rims and the bottom was staying lazer blue.

My 2-tone paint job cost me $2,000. My guy charged me $1,800 but I gave him 2K even for doing a good job.
This way any touch up stuff that might have to be done later will be covered if you know what I mean.

He wet sanded the stock red, sprayed the top black, cleared everything and then layed the silver leaf pin stripe. Hope that helps. I have known the guy for 15 years though so your price might be different.

definitely helped. yeah, i know a guy too, he's a friend of my grandma, he lived with her for a while (she's got alike 90 billion unofficially "adopted" grandchildren and they all love her... i'm not a real grandchild either...lol, but i'd swear she was my biological g-ma). he ownes a body shop and loves doing custom work. i haven't had a chance to get a hold of him though.

to everyone else, yeah, i don't need body work done, just the paint, i like the stylings of the stock ss/sc.

Sounds good man. You should be able to score a good paint job for around 2K then.
Good luck and keep us posted.

Did you have everything taken out of the car and have the whole frame painted as well from inside out? Or is it just an exterior job where they take out the windows and tape over everything they don't want to take out?

I'm curious to know because I'm thinking about going two-tone soon but have a few mods planned... wonder if I should wait or if it costs more to do inside-out probably a fair bit more I'm assuming?
