Rubbing
i have had 18X7.5s with a +42 offset(i think ha ha) and a 215/45 tire. i had a slight rubbing issue from the start but it wasnt too bad. i dont know why it rubs since from my understanding the ss/sc comes with 214/45/18's. its not that bad, only in sharp turns in parking lots or hard turns. it is just progressively bothering me more and more. i plan on lowering in the spring and i know it will just make it worse, or at least wont get any better. i bought the rims and tires from discount tire also known as Americas tire. they recommended me that tire size even tho i wanted a 40 sidewall but he talked me into a 45. he said 40/45 was the borderline to start having to worry about rim damage on bumps/potholes. i have 9000 miles on the tires and know i wont be able to return them, but my question is when i go to get my tires rotated in a few weeks at 10,000 and mention it to them do you think that whey will give me a deal or do something on new 225/40 tires since they talked me into them and they rub, or is it too late? sorry about the rantish post. i just dont want to drop my car and have it rub like a fat mans thighs. any ideas/suggestions?

thats what i dont understand. im going to see what i can do when i go to get my tires rotated. ive had good support from them in the past. i just dont have the cash to buy a new set of 225/40's. it comes out to about 550 bucks for new tires. thats springs, tints and a strut bar. ha ha which are the rest of my mods that are in line. so it basically doubles my mod cost. im just kind of mad that they recommended me those tires and talked me out of the 225/40's. i looked at their site a few days ago and the site suggests 215/45/18 AND 225/40/18 for my car with an 18 inch rim. pisses me off ha ha. sorry again for the rant
Just so you know, 225/40R18 is barely shorter than 215/45R18. The middle number is the sidewall height BUT it's the percentage of the first number. So the sidewall height on the 225's would be 90mm while the 215's would be 96mm........that's not even 1/4".

its about .3 inches. i know. but when you take into consideration how much the wheel is rubbing. its not like grinding, its just a minor rub. .3 inches is enough to take that rub away
Holy offset. You have to be rubbing due to the offset.
EDIT: I take back my offset question. Stock offset is +43. You sure that that is really your offset, I couldn't see any other reason why it would rub.

Mine is offset 40mm I believe.
Wait... u have a base model.. on 18's.. Not lowered... and you are rubbing???? Somethings not right. You should have at LEAST 2 inches of clearance if not more... Post some pics of your ride height and tires.. maybe that will help with suggestions
