East Coast Guy going West
East Coast Guy going West
Hey guys, well my company has decided they are going to send me to Portland, OR for 2 weeks to work on an audit (Knowledge Learning Concepts). So not only will I be forced to leave my poor Cobalt all by its lonesome for 2 weeks but I am also going to be in a whole area I know nothing about. 2 weeks by myself. Coming from living in NY and RI my whole life, I am gonna be about as comfortable as a Cobalt LS in a funny car competition.
If any of you guys have any good suggestions for dinner and places to chill (I'll be spending AFC/NFC Championship round there by myself) it would be greatly appreciated. Also, how should I plan for the weather?
Any suggestions, ideas, or tips would be appreciated.
Thanks guys...

Find the closest McMenamins by your hotel, they have great food and beer. Also the Widmer brewery downtown is a good place to eat.

Do you know exactly where you're staying yet?
As far as clothes, bring a good coat. Weather has been pretty crappy the last few weeks. Cold and rainy. You should really come out in the summer, much nicer weather.

McMenamins is the ****! I love the American Dip sandwich. If you go out to a bar, it may be a strip club/bar. Portland has more strip bars per capita than any city in the US. I went to a corner bar there one time, next thing you know there are 2 naked chicks in the corner on a stage. Also, they have gambling machines at bars (video poker and keno). I won $500 the last time I was there. Have fun, it is a great city.
Where are you staying? There are many places to eat and drink. Also a great sports bar downtown to view the games. Dont worry about the rain gear....leave your umbrella at home (a sure sign of a tourist). I came from the east 4.5 years ago and have no plans on ever moving back. NW is a great place to visit or live. PM me if you wish....we will hook you up on things to do.
