Weird Noise

My car made this weird noise twice today. That noise that you hear when you turn off your auto lights; except longer. It made that noise when I was driving my wife to work, thought that was weird becuase I didn't touch the lights, whatever. On my way to pick her up, same thing happened around the same time. No ideas why it was making that noise, have any of you had this before?

that sound i think is the chime. the same one that goes off if you're not wearing your seatbelt......... or if you're passenger isn't wearing theirs.

Happened again today on the same road, but this time it went longer; for about 30 seconds or so.

I assume you have gas in the car, or you would have ran out by now. Do you keep the blinker on for long periods?

Not being a jerk or anything, but this is a really stupid problem to have.

Have you thrown a CEL (Check Engine Light)?

Yes really stupid problem, it's just pissing me off. No CEL, though the check engine light came on for a little while yesterday and went away. Just filled the tank. What's a long period of time for the blinker, no more than 30 seconds or so.

Even if the CEL came on for only a minute, that means you threw a DTC (Diagnostic Trouble Code). Go to an autoparts store, like Autozone, and have them read it for you w/ an OBD-II code reader. Then, come back w/ the code and look it up here:

Dealerships tend to want to charge you for diagnostics. Autozone does it for free. Your choice, but you may have to pay .3-.8 hrs labor for them to plug it in and tell you the code. I would recommend just driving to Autozone...

If happens when you leave your directional blinker on for an extended period of time. It chimes as a reminder of some sort, most likely you experienced this. Try it, you'll see.

*edit, looks like someone above already covered this, sorry.
