Ss Means "super Slip"

Why Does Everyone Say That Clutch Slip In The Ss/sc Is Driver Error? Yes I Know That If You Let The Clutch Out All The Way Before Giving It Gas It Will Slip Less, But I Mean Come On Most Of Us Spent 20+k On Our Cobalts And You Get A Ss "super Slip" The 08 Ss/tc Has No Lift Shift And A F35 So Why Cant We Do This We Have A F35 What Is Diff The Clutch? im pissed...

It's the ECM. It just lets you keep the accelerator down while you are shifting by lowering the RPM limiter while the clutch is mashed in.

ECM hacks may exist or soon will.

Maybe then SS can stand for "smoother shifts"

Well I must have knowledge, my stock clutch is still in my car at almost 80k later with slight to moderate modifications. I guess I don't know how to drive and it's seen a few track days and street races.

ooo noez u figured mes out!!!!! dude thats the STUPIDEST comment i have ever read... of course i know what it feels smells and sounds like... im not retarded, and the fact your a mechanic has 0 relevance to your clutch slipping or my apparent lack of knowledge on the subject.. ive been around cars most of my life... so i have my fair share of knowledge.... and those ppl who have slipping clutches are the ppl who beat the **** outta their cars 24/7! for god sakes stop street racing from light to light every chance u get and u wont have this problem... or for god sakes learn to drive manual.... end of discussion

Its driver error. You suck at driving, end of story. I had 11,000 pretty hard miles on mine, 7,000 of those spent with 270+ whp. No slippage what so ever, even when powershifting, then when I looked at the clutch, it looked almost new. Hardly any wear on the disk, and very minor wear on the pressure plate.

Learn to drive.

These types of threads have been known on this site. I know for a fact it is a combination of driver error and bad clutches. The stock clutch is not made to be abused. If you want to abuse your car be ready to spend lots of cash on upgraded axles, and upgraded clutch. Thats why you see me with stage II drive shop axles and Exedy clutch. Its the only way if your modding for near 280+ whp. You pay to play, simple as that.

the stock clutch sucks donkey ***** period. the factory hydraulic system on these cars is also lacking for better wording. these two problems are hit and miss on every car, so some people have "clutch" problems and some dont. im not eliminating human error here just shedding some light. bottom line is the clutch and/or hydraulics in question here are a prob for more than, lets say, 20 percent of all cars out. that being said I would describe them as shitty products. gm should have done some more r and d on these cars before releasing them.
