you don't even want to know what my car does when I do pulls, one pull can take more than a 1/4 tank. I raced my friend the other night from a 40-120mph roll, over a 1/4 tank lol

People say chevy put a shitty clutch in our cars and they should have put more thought into it but they did fine. The car they produced runs perfectly fine drivetrain included. It wasnt built to be a drag beast so for those that are building THEIR's to make it one, consider that clutch and axels might be things you want to replace. Its like planning to make an autox dominant vehicle without modding suspension. A car's engine is built to rev through the rpms, a transmission (particularly ours) is not built to take the assbeating it receives at the track. It may run fine under those conditions for a while but that is not what its developers intended for. As long as we know this then either be willing to replace your clutch if you **** it up, or plan to mod parts that receive alot of stress. This being said, the stock clutch can still get a long way and alot of people above stock hp numbers (above stage 2 even) are getting along fine with it.

yeah i know i need to upgrade... and sorry if anyone thought i was being an ass i just felt like i was being gunned down those first couple of replys everyone just said "i was stupid" and "learn how to drive" or "driver mod" when really no one still has answered my question... is the 08 ss/tc clutch different from ours?????????????????????????????
i mean ss/tc can hold 260+hp and260+tq then i was thinking about getting it instead of a exedy because i have a wholesale license so i can get the stock ss/tc clutch for cheaper than an exedy...

Area, Anamolous, Paul, you guys know I respect you and your cars for sure. This is however where you know I disagree.

The stock clutch was great for normal driving, spirited driving, and even some hard pulls. However, after installing my GM stage 2 and racing a LS2 GTO from a dig and the car not going anywhere even know I eased off the clutch nicely, that POS slipped horribly and smelt terrible. Granted the car drove fine afterward for normal driving, I wanted it GONE!

Exedy Hypersingle FTMFW! I have never had an issue with clutch slipping since! The track, the street, and normal driving not even one damn slip at all! Way better feel, way better grip, and the only problem is not tearing up tires which isn't a fine side effect for me!

Finally, the new no lift shift sounds like a great deal, but IMO with the way GM likes to deny warranty coverage I forsee this being bad deal on the F35 tranny's.

well guess what's going in my car this week 2k.... exedy hyper single lol.
But I do beat the **** out of my car many drag passes, many on slicks, but I also baby the car while beating it (I know lol) granny shiftin and no clutch drops makes the clutch last a long long time. I guarruntee when I pull my clutch out the disk is still gonna be fine. I'm betting it's just the pressure plate that can't clamp enough to hold the power I'm making now. It's funny though, cause as long as I don't do back to back to back pulls, it still holds fine, still will even chirp 3rd gear here and there

Paul, no doubt when I pulled my stocker out it looked fine. A little glazed, but still good. I do believe it is indeed a weak pressure plate.

Oh, welcome to the darkside on the clutch. You're gonna love it, but your calf won't for the first week or so!

I don't see it being a problem, all my cars end up with full race clutches in them in the end.
My rx-7 had an ACT 6 puck, unsprung hub ceramic clutch and I used to drive it to and from manhattan everyday in bumper to bumper traffic, well that and it idled at 1600 rpm made it real fun, car wouldn't go any slower than 7-10 mph

this is why i said 2% have geniune issues.

i know there are some out there who get a bad setup....weak cylinder, etc etc etc. but its VERY few. the GREAT majority, have issues with their feet, not with the clutch.
but unfortunately, theres about 2 thousand little sideways hat wearin punks. who beat the **** out of a modded ss/sc, and think GM is responsible for a roasted clutch.

as far as im concerned. ive gone above and beyond with this subject to help people understand, i even deliberately roasted my clutch in a video to demonstrate it.

but obviously some people are just to stubborn to hear it, or just have an ego that cant handle the fact that maybe they cant drive this car properly.

so my patience is at an end.

and "learn how to drive" is all i have left in me.

I didn't think it was going to be a problem, it just takes a bit to get used to if you drive the Cobalt's squishy clutch all the time and then go to that!

true, it is a little bit of a vague feeling clutch, which is probably the issue with these "kids" having clutch problems...
eh **** happens, you want to beat on your car, and race your car, you have to fix your car, or upgrade the parts to handle it.... That's the bottom line
