Hey everyone. I own a 2005 cobalt ss/sc. has 16k on it right now but just not satisfied with the speed. I was looking around and was looking to buy a 2005 srt-4 with 22k miles for 17k. What would you guys do? I love the balt but I just cant help it, I need more potential!

 

that sounds pretty high for the srt 4 on the price but if you want power its the way to go

 

and you want to buy another FWD?

 

Yeah I love 4 cyl. Gas mileage and speed. Cant beat it

If you are going to sell the balt, dont pick up an SRT. Get a used S2000 and mod the hell out of it - you can coax an assload of power from those engines. Plus it is RWD if thats what you are looking for.

Also, the Balt has PLENTY of potential.....but it sounds like you want *cheap* potential...

buy the peon...but the price is kind high...you should be able to find them in the 14's with about 25k on them or so...they dont hold there value just like the cobalts..but if u want speed,thats the car u need..but dont dare hit a corner with it

i had a srt before the balt and mine handled good..only reason is i had kw coilovers with a full system in the back,so there wasnt alot of as swingin around corners..wider tires will also help u alot..205 tires are good for drag racing,and thats what the srt4 neon is good at

Don't get a neon. As fast as they can be made it's still a neon in my books. I guess it all comes down to what you want to do.

 

and ur cobalt is still a cavalier,tryin to hide under a diffrent name

 

Buy a late model Mustang, Camaro or Trans Am. Parts are cheap and you can make them go as fast as you want.

If you just want some straight line speed, I would say do it. I love SRT-4s.

I love how the guy asks if he should buy an SRT4 he found and now people are tossing out mustangs and 350Zs. He said he wants a 4 banger.

thats because we are trying to make his life easy and get him a car that take a few mods to become fast let alone alot of mods and hours of tuning.

 

BTW 17k for an 05 Skittle is high. I've found lots of 04-05 SRT-4s in the 9-10K area.
