ok I just installed a K&N CAI on my car yesterday and was driving it around. heres the question anyone with a CAI, when you hit the gas does the CAI sound like it's winding up. mine has a highpitch wind up sound... I'm thinking it's because of the SC. if you all could get back to me on that I'd appriciate it. just want to make sure I didn't mess anything up on it.

 

thats due to the supercharger, no problem at all its just breathing better.

 

Thats normal, you'll get a very noticable increase in the supercharger whine. just enjoy it

 

You are hearing the supercharger wine. This is not a problem.

 

i have this problem too, it sounds diff than b4 the cai, but i cannot keep my foot off the pedal :P

My city gas mileage has gone to **** since I opened up my intake - I can't keep my foot out of it! Love that whine! The car sounds absolutely demonic when I punch it driving under an overpass

 

does the stage 2 make it whine a lot louder too?

Couldn't say for sure, since I already had Stage 2 when I did the 'box mod. But I'm guessing it would make it a little louder, since it's pushing more boost.

You won't hear the whine as much when you put exhaust on . Thats on thing i didn't like about the GMPP "performance " exhaust , so i sold it and bought a touring instead. Now i can hear the whine again.
