[QUOTE=InfraRedline;7571718]Thanks Matt! The header and downpipe makes a huge difference, and E85 would be another really big gain. I think I saw you driving on 45th a couple weeks ago when I was in Fargo![/QUOTE
Yeah that was probably me haha, I've been fighting this exhaust leak with the new header setup. Maybe in a month or so I'll look into getting some 80 lbs injectors and a smaller pulley and make my way out to Bismark again .

It can't be that loud... you have a 400 cell cat now and a smaller downpipe with that mid length setup.

I think you are just turning into an old man, lol.

Rice is an old man lol

I think my car is a little on the quiet end. Full exhaust and catless but I have a big ass zzp resonator that quiets it down a bunch. When I told a few people I think it's on the quiet end they look at me like I'm crazy. Guess my car isn't that quiet

Lol

My car isn't very loud (to me at least).... I give that to the wonderful sound cancellation of the Corsa Catback.

It's throaty at wot, but cruising it is fairly docile.

I just like this one quiet since its my daily besides my truck and I take it on the highway quite a bit, and I don't care about the power as much. My friend's TVS car sounds really good with the Hahn catback with a ZZP resonator in it instead of the Hahn one, and a Kooks stainless resonator in the downpipe that I put in when I had it. My turbo LSJ sounds the best in my opinion though, no rasp at all and way quieter than the TVS LSJ I mentioned, and I have a Hahn catback. The turbo just does a good job at muffling the sound.

Great numbers, so jealous of you E85 folks.

My ZZP LT header + 100 cell cat is raspy until it warms up.... 3-7 minutes and we haven't hit winter yet.
I think it's due to the box style collector. I'd love to do a 4-2-1 (1.75 -> 2.25 -> 2.75) setup, but I could just put that towards a boostercharger instead.

VERY noticeable power gains by going to the LT + 100 cell cat though.

The corsa touring is probably the best sounding exhaust for a blown LSJ. Following closely by the ZZP 2.5" and GMPP Touring (don't like that the GMPP bottlenecks though). Hahn sounds decent as well.

Only issue with my ZZP is my resonator absolutely sucks. It rattles at idle and low RPMs, especially cold starts.. which sucks because it sounds absolutely awesome at WOT imo. That resonator is brand new (couple months old) and no leaks. Despite what ZZP might say, their resonators suck. I think I'm on my 3rd or 4th one. Ran their original whisper resonator which clogged and 2-3 of their newer designed ones. I'll be replacing it with another "quiet" style resonator in the spring most likely. I was looking at the vibrant whisper resonator... maybe ill check out corsa and see if i can get the resonator they run on the touring. Don't know if they would sell it separate hmmmm.

Turboed LSJs sound awesome with most exhaust setups lol... haven't heard a raspy one yet and I've seen quite a few turbo swapped lsjs in person.

Prob not since they don't make them anymore

Worth asking though.

My car sounds great and it's quieter than 95% of the other cobalts ive seen on the road; just wish it was like almost stock sounding. especially just do not like the hiss of the hi flow aftermarket cats. if i could run, say an extrude hones exhaust mani, modded stock dp (no kink) and them maybe my zzp 2.5" it would probably satisfy my requirements.... at the loss of 15 hp

The outlet of the stock downpipe is the real restriction. It already has a high flow cat as well. Not to mention for the most part 2 3/4" piping.

If you want to modify a stock downpipe for durability and increased flow this is what I would do:

- Weld in a new interlock flex section
- Remove the tiny 2 1/4" neck down at end of pipe and replace with 2 3/4" section w/ 2 bolt flange.

Note, while the O2 sensor location looks "kinked" it is make oblong to not obstruct flow that much. That can be left alone.

The extrude honed manifold like I run (although ported on my car), was tested to 350hp. It will be a restriction on your car as it sits.

ZZP's shorty header actually has smaller primaries than the GMPP manifolds, but the 3" outlet might help.
