How come? If you just removed the fuse all together, it would never come on again unless by manual control via headlight switch!

which fuse would you need to pull out for the Auto Headlights? Not the DRL fuse is it? Is there another fuse?

there is the standard DRL fuse.. I haven't found the Automatic headlamp fuse though.. its the litle black ball that sits on the dash.. the guy at the dealership told me if i had a way to somehow disable it, the lights would always stay on as a precaution and the case would be a default safety setting..

and don't forget guys, with our cars, if the wipers are on for more than 15 seconds at a time, all the lights come on automatically..

Really?? i never noticed. Thats kinda cool now that PA addopted a gay law where when the wipers are on in rain or fog the headlights have got to be on or pay $100 to the piggy fund

Hey guys, new to the forum here. I have a blue 06 SS/SC balt. I am also located in Canada. I recently purchased a set of 9007 hi/low telescopic HIDs (kit) and I need to know how to actually disable the DRLs from coming on in the daytime. I don''t want to ruin my HIDs.

I tried looking for the DRL fuse under the hood in the fuse box, but can't for the life of me figure out which one it is. There is no such fuse labelled under the fuse box. Can anyone post a pic or diagram of which fuse exactly that I should pull?

Thanks.

PS I know this is a repost, but I figured this thread may be more relevant to what I was looking for.

yeah they are...btw, if you guys disable the DRL and get into an accident, if the insurance company finds out it could be trouble, as you disabled a safety feature

I know it is the law in canada to have DRL's, but in the states they don't have the same law... am I correct on this?

ok maybe its just me but why in the hell is this being done? day time running lights are the orange turn signals that have nothing to do with hid or halogen high and or low beams. So there is no reason to disable them.

Now if you looking at taking out the feature that turns on the lights in the dark then thats completely different but that shouldnt ruin a good set of hids anyway.

Also im not sure if anyone has thought about this yet but if you dont want your hids on and the auto feature turned them on.... then all you have to do is move the light lever thing to the parking light feature and your hids will be off but the drls and back lights will stay on

Ok wait, so I think I'm imagining this then, or I'm doing something strange. Because when I turn the car on, release the ebrake in daylight, the lights turn on. If I just turn the car on, it will stay off. Am I hallucinating?.. I think I'm losing it here. I will check again tomorrow, because if that's the case, then I don't have to worry about disabling the DRLs as I don't mind if they turn on and off during garage or dark periods.

if IRC, the DRL are actually the low beams on the headlights on the new 2007 model, not the orange parking lights on the 2005/06. This means that it definitely will affect any sort of HID conversion. The 2007 model has a separate fuse just for DRL, find it and just remove it.

For more information, see this thread: https://www.cobaltss.net/forums/appearance-48/fyi-drls-2007-low-beams-not-turn-signals-34983/
I was able to find this information out by searching the forum.
