Getting Knock Retard.
Getting Knock Retard.
Okay guys. Before I installed my H.E I was getting like 3 degreees of knock, 1.8, 2.8, 3.8, 2.8, 1.8. Then I fix my Air fuel to 11.5 to 12.0 and took away about 3 degrees of timing and it stopped. Now I installed my heat exchanger and Im still getting that at 5k rpm! My AF is still 11.5 to 12.0, but I still get 1.8, 2.5, 3.5, something like that, If I keep taking Timing away I am going to keep losing power! Could it be my spark plugs, since im running only one step colder and a 2.6" or should I just take away more timing.
What octane gas you running? How much timing you running?
I only have access to 91 octane and only run 15.5 degrees of timing. I just made an entirly different tune for race gas that runs a little leaner, and 23 degrees of timing.

Im looking through my spark control---spark advance---High octane, thats where I took away 3 degrees oftiming from 5 to 7k last time and it worked. But How do I know exactly how much timing im running, for example 21 or 20? I have numbers as low as 4 and as high as 41depending on RPM and cylinder airmass.
Have you scanned it? If you scan it, there will be a Spark Advance histogram that will show you exactly how much timing is being run. I don't know if its just my car, but when the little box in the timing table says 18, then it will run about 21, I run 19 degrees from 4000-5000 21 degrees from 5000-6000 and 23 degrees from 6000-7000, I get no knock, now keep in mind thats my race gas tune.
ljvy u need to at least have 2 step colder plugs when ur running a 2.6 i would also reccomend running a slightly smaller gap then what ur currently running. or ur plugs just might be fowled out. my car hiccuped the other day and it has never done that before so i looked at the plugs and they were almost black with only 5k on them. i am currently running bkr7e's at .37. Good luck I will also be buying my header soon so i will need that tune in a month.
I am getting upwards of 5* of KR around 6500 rpm on my car. I have the Intense Stage 4 kit. Any ideas on anything I can do other than check the plugs? I don't have HPT so I can't do much.
