..... My bro will be in Phoenix, AZ this friday, and I was wondering if theres anyone on here that could show him around friday. He just bought a 05 Silver cobalt SS S/C and he'd like go so somewhere for street racing, or maybe a drag strip. He also wants to go visit some Performance shops. Hes a marine, so he will be based in Umah(???spelling???) AZ. He'll probably be visiting Pheonix alot, so could someone please show him around. Please post ASAP, thanks!

Don't know if you're brother is interested but there is drag racing on Friday nights at Firebird Raceway. South of Phx about 15 minutes. Friday Night Street Drags...pretty much run what you brung.....

About 4 or 5 times a year, they have an SCO night (Sport Compact Only) meet, limited to 4 and 6 cylinder cars.

Heat is a problem this time of year so performance numbers are usually down during the summer. There are a couple of us planning to go out to Firebird tonight. Depends on weather. If it doesn't rain, I plan to go...don't know if I'll run or not- waiting to install ESMM's to get rid of some wheel hop.

If you want to send me a PM with his cell phone, I'd be happy to show him around. I'm an old man driving a Type S (hondata and CAI) and I'd be glad to play.

 

I'm actually considering going out to either Firebird or Speedworld tonight. I have not decided which yet.

Who says I'm single....like I've posted before, I'm probably old enough to be your father, I have a wife and 3 kids and 2 of them are in college. I'm one of those old farts that buys an import car, adds a few parts and then proceeds to spank the lawyer driving his 325 stoplight to stoplight.

It was just raining like hell up here (101 and Cactus, east side) so I doubt I'll go.

Didn't see any SS/SC's out there last night. But I did guess right... after messing with the boost schedule in 1st & 2nd (basically setting it to "none") I managed to 1/2 way hook up in 1st & 2nd and ran a best of 13.2@116. My slowest of the night was 14.6@80-something (84?) I missed 4th and just coasted across the line

There were a bundle of Evo's out there and a handfull of WRX's (some? all? STI's). Most, I think, running mid 13's. Even w/ AWD traction was sketchy.

Edit: I should mention this was on my street tune. Race tune, I'd be spinning through 3rd as well as 1st & 2nd...
