Need a ECU

looking for a ecu for a 2.4L G5 GT as i want to keep the original ECU stock

I plan to get a Vector tune and see they sell one for 200.00. Is this a good price for a ECU or is there a place to get a user one?

I was told they were all the same, even other GM cars used the same physical ECU and it didn't matter since it'd get flashed..

i could be wrong, but logic tells me that since the 2.2 ECU's are untunable since noones unlocked them yet, you would need a 2.4 ECU

either way, why not just stick with a gt ECU to make sure there are no mistakes?

I don't think it will work. You will have to get a brand new blank ECM.
I was gonna do that and I still have the other one. It took my flash, but the fuel enable code did not match and my car would not start.

I still have the ECM if you still want it though. I'm not gonna need it.

The ECM must have the same service number or else it is not the same.

i don't know if this helps but i know there is a process that requires a tech2 to reprogram the ECU to a new car. its takes like half an hour. its kinda the same thing as if you were to replace the motor with a completely new one. i dunno just my 2 cents.

I did that with the used ECM I bought and the ECM took the new program for my car and we used my vin, but when I went to start it I got security codes and the code was for the fuel enable signal from the new ECM did not match what the BCM was looking for.
I was told had it been a virgin ECM it would have worked, but because it was used it had the other cars fuel enable signal on it.
Has anyone got a used ECM to work on their car? Maybe we just didn't take the right steps?

So vector must be using a virgin ECM then, case they ship you an ecu and you give them yours back. So with this said they are doing it from the vin number you give then during the order.

Can someone confirm that a used or a virgin ECU is needed?

vector does not use virgin ECM's......I have one and it was not new.....
any ECM with the same part number can be reflashed to all new specs.
never heard of certain codes still being in after a reflashed computer ??????
