100,000+ mile club!!
I'm just trying to save on my mileage so I can do the EFR upgrade with low miles on my engine. I have an '08 with 19.8K miles. I drive a '91 Civic Hatch as a daily. My thought on the matter has always been, if you're going to put a crapload of miles on something, put them on a beater and drive your good car on the weekends. I paid $800 for my Civic and put about $300 into it to get it reliable with no oil leaks. It doesn't have A/C, but who cares?

I just hit 85k in my 07 LSJ. Other than the occasional CEL it's all good.
I drive this car very hard. I spirit drive through every turn. Only launched car a handful of times though. Less than 5.

Hahah me too.......I was feeling bad about putting all the miles on mine. My 09 is stored winters and I still have 38K on her lol. The problem is that these cars are fun to drive ....so occasionally i will just take a drive for no other reason than to have alittle fun .

Resale value? Haha, I bought my car not to sit thinking, o man I can't drive this much due to the resale value. Rain sleet or snow, my cavy has 130,000 miles on it, been sc since 07 and runs great. Just my own way of thinking

Let's just hope our cobalts are as reliable as it's predecessor (had to look up how to spell that) because if not we're in for a lot of spending, parts do not seem to be cheap for these cars. And there's plenty more gadgets in the balt.
My 2002 ecotec sunfire supercharged currently has 260k on her with no engine problems to date, Issue was wheel bearings (went through 4) and other small thing's like driver window motor, rear defroster, 3rd gear synchro but nothing major. sc'd since 08 and still going (sold it to a good friend). Heck instead of replacing the synchro I got a used 5-speed tranny with 60k on it for $150.

Only problem I had was clutch went out in 08, oil pan ( I sit on tein coilovers) so rock on road put hole in it. Been great to me, still look nice ($3,000) paint job. Be my 8th winter this winter driving it.
It seems to me that the cavalier was built more solid, cobalt rattles and other stuff.

i have 103k on mine cause i drive 5 hrs twice a week, but thats the reason i bought it...to drive not sit in the garage and gather dust, its a cobalt not a ferrari, it wasn't worth what ya paid for it as soon as you drove it off the lot. so just enjoy it.
gas or oil? If you're talking about oil stick with either AMSoil, Brad Penn, or Mobil 1. May cost more but all are proven to improve engine health and run longer than most. AMSoil has been tested to last twice as long as most oils
This. The sitting thing gets old, I laugh at people who say they want to keep the car forever but worry about resale value. Kind of a conflict of interest there
Screw resale value.
This one. Life's too short to let such a fun car go to waste. As long as you take proper care of your car it'll last you a long time, and repairs aren't that bad if you plan for them ahead of time. I have a separate money market account that I put money into every pay in case I need to make any repairs, just part of owning the car.

My 06 sc had 27k on it when I bought it in June of 2011, it currently has almost 41k. These cars were made to be driven, only prob to date is an oil pan leak (since purchase) and the cruise control not working just disconnected the battery to fix that. I have two words for some one wanting to keep their car in great shape "Preventive Maintenance"
There's a difference between driving a car and driving it into the ground. If you're driving it into the ground, buy a beater.......period. Even if resale isn't what you're worried about, how about the appearance of the car after driving on the highway for 100K miles? Rock chips galore.
I beat on my car all the time, drive it all year round with harsh winters. I got this paint job on 05 and has 100k+ miles on it. No chips all in it. I take care of my car alot. Paint still looks as good as 7 years ago

I wouldn't mind this, as long as I didn't have to sleeve it. That would be a whole different ballgame to me.
