Nice looking cavi Blowncavi. Jbody represent! Seems like a natural progression from jbody to delta that has quite a few of us on these forums.

2002 sc'd ecotec. Picture taken around 150k, 4 years or so ago.

Right after deer incident, picture taken around 200k, 2 years or so ago. Car looks just as good today. Sold to close friend currently sitting at 260k. Hope he takes it over 300k for bragging rights.

It's cool man. I had black wheels with red pin stripe on wheels for years with the red pin stripe between the silver and black. So I took my air brush gun, threw some pearl blue and some candy purple with it and spayed it. Then put some purple pin stripe to seperate the paints. The sun light brings it out nice, but might have to switch it up here soon. Maybe matte white on bottom or matte red

It seems to me that the cavalier was built more solid, cobalt rattles and other stuff.
I had an 02 Z24 that rattled more than my SS....but my SS doesn't rattle so thats prolly why. Sold it with 60K on it and it never really gave me any problems besides 1st gear sounded like a blower and was prolly on the way out .

My bother had a 2000 Z24 that scattered the motor with 26K miles on it when it was 2 years old ..... tranny blew at 30K about 6 months later . hehe His friend bought a sunfire GT at the same time and blew the head gasket at around 60K ...... they were both stock lol. The LD9 cavy's had some issues but from what i've seen the ecotec jbody's do fine.

Hell yeah m62. GM should've made cavaliers/sunfires with superchargers stock. 2650lb car with 200hp 200tq is decently quick. Never understood how a stock LSJ only made 5 more hp, being a newer engine and having all the extra's the 2.2 did not have.

Stock intake fits perfectly too. Was meant to be. Only problem is trying to do an oil change, it's a bit harder to get at the filter but not a huge deal.

The LSj's would have made closer to 240 BHP and 210-215 btq if GM would have had them SAE rated .... GM underated them a good bit for some reason . If you look back when the LSJ's first came out.... most made over 200 Wheel HP bone stock on most dyno's.... most were putting to the wheels what GM said it made at the crank.

100K is not a big issue on newer engines....

I don't know why everyone is soo nervous about the 100k mark on these cars. If you take care of your car & perform general maintenance it will last a very long time (stock or modded).

OP, don't worry so much, and keep enjoying your SS/TC.

Tell that to your resale value.
If you bought a compact Chevrolet with concerns about resale - you've been barking up the wrong tree...

just drive it.

I have no plans on selling mine.

Oh wicked I did not know the LSJ's were that under-rated from factory.

https://www.cobaltss.net/forums/drag...ct2010-232194/

I am curious though because the link above stays the best time stock LSJ is 14.06, 10th is 14.37. What's the best stock TC time? Would 13.5 be close? That's a pretty big gap for around 20bhp difference isn't it? The LSJ's been around a lot longer do you think in time TC's might improve stock 1/4mile times even more?

the SS/SC was generally putting down legit whp dyno numbers from around 205-212whp iirc;
the SS/TC was generally putting down 245-248whp ~ so it's more like a 40whp gap...

if I can use my own observations;
At my local track (RIP) - which ususally was around 600ft density altitude;
in 2010 I put down a best of 14.3 - and I was bone stock, running street tires...
my buddy on the same night in his '07 SS/SC (also like me, he has G85) put down a best of 15.3.

Now to people who live at lower altitudes, or who have better tracks - it's easy to scoff at those numbers ~ but IMHO, they were both good times (so please don't make any "driver mod) comments.

This is pretty accurate.

I'm surprised that some people still don't know the SS/SC was underrated.

Honestly, I didn't know until I started posting here...

Then again I never watched that sport compact (or what ever it was) show;
GM NEVER marketed the Cobalt SS in Canada.

For example: There was NO material released in Canada for the 2008 Cobalt SS ~ the only literature on the 2008 SS was created for the US market... I believe I now have all three versions of 2008 Cobalt SS sales material;
  • Sales training DVD
  • 8-1/2"x11" x2 paper printed brochure (single folded leaflet, front has yellow SS on white bacground with green border on one side; same picture as sales' training DVD)
  • 8-1/2"x11" paper printed brochure (hard stock paper, single page; both sides, front has yellow SS on black background)

The LSJ's gearing makes it a bit tougher to launch ..... 1st gear is so low that it's can be a real challenge to hook with street tires ..... a lot of the 1/4 mile difference is how much easier it's to get a good 60 foot time with the SS/TC than it is with a SS/SC .
