I don't have any real dates or vins to go off of, there are some cars in this thread that were built on the same day but the vin's are alot different so i don't know if vin's can be grouped together in any type of order. I have seen Hail damaged cars from may 28th to to june 6th so far , but i'm sure there are car's built in there that weren't damaged .

 

My build date was 5/5/08 if that helps-so at least that early. Btw that "Hail Damage" denote may be misleading; trust me mine has no dimples or anything. Didn't inspect any others in person but several salesmen and quite a few close up pics showed there wasn't much to worry about appearence wise.

 

Well i think my car is pretty rare other than the sedans in 09. i have a summit white cobalt ss coupe of which there are only 118 made, and mine has the red and blk leather and ultra lux interior which will be dropped for 2010 i hear, so basically that makes my car a one year exterior/ interior combo, i believe. i also have every option available, sunroof, rpd, lsd, pioneer upgraded sound system usb aux jack, high rise wing lol. well maybe not the 6 cd changer but thats it.

I looked at a bunch of the hail damaged car's in Cleveland, and only a couple were really marked up bad. It was an amazing deal ,i thought, but by the time i decided to buy one there were only 4-5 left and they were rough. I'm happy with my 09 but should have jumped at the chance when all those 08's were going for 16.5K , most were pretty much flawless.

 

How many yellow 4 doors are on here...cuz was just looking around to see if there were any for sale and I found 10 Brand new 09's. That means there was only 5 sold? I saw one at a dealership nearby, but I had already purchased my victroy red 2 door.

i'm assuming this is cars produced in the US not worldwide? or is it worldwide? just feels like there are more SS's around then stated in these numbers... but maybe i don't realize how rare SS/TC's are and it's coincidence that i've seen so many?

I thought most of them came with the inflator kit?

Did they ever release the info on the options like how many cars came with the lsd, rpd, so on and so on? Or am I an idiot looking in the wrong place? The last link I saw only lists interior seat trim colors.

 

In that same Excel sheet there are tabs at the bottom that show different break downs by year , color and rpo codes.

I hear ya... would love to see someone get GM to certify a numbered certificate... You would be able to make some money off of that... hell I would buy one...

Strange you should mention that. Two weeks ago through a stroke of dumb luck I happened upon (and quickly took home ) an orphaned '08 with a May build date that had been sitting on the dealer's lot untouched all this time. It had roughly 125 miles on it when I took her home.

Probably coincidence, as I suspect she had to have been test driven at least a few times in the 17 months she'd been sitting around.

The Cobalt SS Sedan I'm picking up on Friday has the SLL code, what does that mean or indicate. It shows there are only 16. Does that mean that someone ordered it? It has a build date of 8/11/2008.
