3rd gear grind under boost?

Whenever I'm switching gear from 2nd to 3rd under high boost/high rpm, there's a grinding type of noise. Doesn't feel the same as a normal gear grind. I had my buddy drive the car (he's a lot better driver than I am) and he felt the same thing.

If I shift very slowly under boost and high rpm, the noise/grind is not there. Also when driving normally and shifting at 3k rpm with no boost, there is no noise. None of my other gears grind, in boost or not.

Anybody else's car doing this? I'm planning on taking it to the dealer this week. My car is at 6xxx miles, never used launch control and only NLS a couple of times. It's also completely stock as far as performance mods, tires and clutch.

Really dumb question, when you shift under high boost are you pushing the stick just slightly further forward than you would during a slow shift? WIth the shift being so short there's a huge potential for anyone to overshift which will result in some odd noises from the transmission and shifter assembly itself. I have only done it once when I first picked up the car (was used to the throw on the 2.2 so my timing was WAY off) but it doesn't make the usual noise I'd expect it to based on experience with my 2.2 at the track.

How are you shifting under boost? Your boost should be gone when shifting...

Not necessarily true if he's no-lift shifting properly, he should be maintaining boost .

By shifting under boost, I meant that I was at full boost and full throttle before I went to shift gears, sorry for the miscommunication. I haven't done a NLS for months.

If you are engaging reverse when the car is already moving backwards it will grind. If at a standstill try cycling the clutch and try again, but mine's only if I accidently roll a bit and try to put it in gear.

Third gear sounds to me like a potentially bad synchro since when you're at full boost you're clearly accelerating and hitting the higher RPMs. Might want to get it looked at.

sigh... haven't read any other post besides the above yet.- Mine does it. Its called cable shifting. Dude.. 2nd to 3rd is the most rough gear for me. U have to hit th at bitch juss right or else it feels rough going in. Try throwing it up into 3rd just a bit more to the right than you are doing now and see what happens.

How many miles do you have? Are you taking it to the dealer?
