7000 redline in an LNF

hey all. just wondering, does anybody have a redline of 7000 in an LNF? and if so, how is it holding up? ive heard that our engines cant handle the revs as well as a LSJ. that can easily be solved with upgraded valve springs tho. anyway, is anyone with a tune revving that high and is it able to make much power at that redline? i know the k04 starts running out of steam in higher revs but i wanna see what some of you guys have. im trying to learn as much as i can about the LNF so i can properly build it. also, are there any good cams for the LNF? if so, what are the gains? thanks.

I've had mine at 7300 for a year now... I usually don't shift over 7000 though daily... only that high at the track though!

i wouldnt either if i set mine that high, only for track use pretty much. maybe once in a while on the streets just for fun. 7300 would be nice tho, if i went to that id probably throw some valve springs in there to be safe. those will do the job and they arent as much of a bitch as replacing the actual valves. lol. you also have a turbo swap tho, so im willing to bet you pull all the way to your redline.

i like my friends LSJ. his redline is at like 8K and he goes up to 83-90 or so in second gear. you guys probably know him, its elite cyborg. i wont be able to catch him without a turbo swap. sometimes i think GM should have just kept the LSJ and turbocharged that instead. maybe throw the variable cam timing in there and direct injection too.

Yep. The K04 really runs out of steam high up in the revs. And revving to 7K isn't bad, but it isn't good either. And valve springs will definitely be a nice piece of mind when revving that high.

And about the cams.... Nobody has any out, (as far as I know). :\

damn. cams are something many people overlook. they are a great mod to do in any car if you know what your doing. well i guess i can only hope and wait on the cams. as for the revving high, yea the k04 kinda hinders that does it. ill probably put in upgraded valve springs anyway tho for future mods. they arent that expensive.

Yea... X2 I wish we could have some aftermarket cams for our cars. They just sound sooo badass!!!!!! And you can get some serious gains from them too. But yea, it's not going to hurt you to put some nice valve springs.

Im sure he has stronger valve springs, If you did that in a LNF it could rev that high to. The reason he revs that high is because the SC balts dont lose power if they rev up to 8000 RPM. The only reason on stock turbo to have a higher redline is at the track you can finish in third gear.

how much would install cost on valve springs. like hours that it would take a mechanic to do it. possibly also cams and a neutral balance shaft

I ran mine up to 7500 rpm when I had the 2871r on the car just to see if it would keep pulling that high...

look at my dyno sheet...

If it breaks then I'll do a build... but at the strip I run it out to 7300 rpm so I don't have to shift to 4th through the traps!

How do you even need 4th if you wind it all the way to 7300

Next time I go to the track I am going to load your tune with a lot of timing with term's MAF calibrations and I am taking it to 7200 ..

I guess if it aint broke don't fix it, but thats why I gotta break it.. Check out my thread in the drag racing section .
