Another Update! LNF KIT!
Good news. I will most likely get my stage 1 for free. And if stage 2 is just an intake then I am going to buy one from Hahn possibly! If they announce more then intake for the Stage 2 kit then i am sure i would do stage 2!
It sounds like the CAI piece was going to take too long and they see everybody getting impatient. Good move on GM's part to get out what they can .....too bad it is only 275 HP without the CAI. I wonder aloud here if one puts their own CAI say K&N if that will open it up to the 290 HP range without paying for GM"s version of a CAI?
True...but even with the statement of Late June.....we don't have a final date for it...I would guestimate the last week of June it will show up as an orderable part....then one has to wonder how many will be in-stock for oder and how long to get more. When the stage kit for the LSJ came out it was like that.
I think i might go with the Stage one kit and keep my warrenty intact cause i intend on keeping this car for along time and ill prolly get aftermarket intake and exhaust and that will be all that i do for the performance side for my car so. IM pretty happy about the news since i dindt have to wait as long as some people on here since i just got my car.
Like someone said above ......They must be having trouble with the intake and weren't going to meet the early july deadline...... so they broke it up into 2 different stages. I'm guessing the tunes are the same and if you have an aftermarket CAI you will be good to go. Well look at it this way ....if you were on the fence about an aftermarket tune ......this should help make your mind up.

As mentioned earlier:
Here's my route:
Aftermarket SRI, Stage 1, Charge Piping, Catted Downpipe, Aftermarket tune with new sensors. Bing!! Over 350/350 to the wheels easily!
Oh, I guess a new clutch too!

Where are you getting dollar figures from? I can't find anything that gives any estimate on cost for the kit. I thought the kit with air intake was estimated at $650 earlier. So I guess I need to see a price before I dismiss it.
Well, if the Redline/GXP/HHR SS kits with the exact same stuff in it goes for a certain price, then it is reasonable to assume that the Cobalt kit will be the same price. The intake is no longer a part of the initial kit, so there is no reason for the price to be higher (or lower for that matter). If you're going with the Stage 1a+1b/Stage 2 kit then it's probably going to be more because of the addition of extra parts (the intake and filter).
What I don't understand is how the other LNF cars can get 290 hp with just the Stage 1 kit while the Cobalt is limited to 275 hp?
Is it the stock air intake? What kind of intakes are the Kappa cars and HHR using?
My guess is that GM is running out of money for projects like this - hence the delay.

What's killing me is trying to figure out what takes so long to design a bent pipe with a filter and enclosure on the end since it will clearly be a short-ram if anything. I know the bend can have some impact on air flow but holy sheep ****, take pipe, bend, attach filter, complete
. About the ONLY thing I can think of is they are having difficulty finding a manufacturer/supplier based on their current predicament...beyond that I see no legitimate reason why a hollow, free-flowing tube is being released as a seperate "stage"...it doesn't logistically make sense.
Edit:
Heh just realised that with an estimated release date of 3 months AFTER the stage 1 it'll be about time for the snow to start blowing around here again. Guess this gives me the opportunity to sit back and wait and observe if there are any noted problems with the stage 1 before I even consider putting down my money. No point in adding this to my car over the winter, I don't need the 260hp/206lb-ft I have now in the snow, the additional is just overkill and couldn't be properly used until the following May/June anyways.

1.How beneficial is the sensors going to be?
2.Lets say you get the sensors installed and reflashed, then get aftermarket tuned, what is the "guesstimatted" HP/TQ increase over sensors/flash/aftermarket retune, and just a basic aftermarket tune without sensors and flash?
3.If you get the GM sensors and flash to the primary ECU, then retuning to a secondary ECU wont be able to reap the benefits of the sensors, right?
4.WTF is GM thinking?

Hmm. It has its ups and downs. You could get this in prep for the long run, and then start popping on your bolt ons and get some hp. Or you can do this, pop on bolt ons, and then retune it for even more hp.
Or not get this at all.
Or not get this at all.
********... thats rediculous.
I ordered a 2nd ecm, but the question is can GM flash more than one ecm with the same VIN? I want one for a stock config, and one for a screaming IC DP and Intake setup

Considering the Stage 1 LNF kit is already a hack job, Why waste $500-$650 for a hack job kit that uses half-a$$ed sensors? If you read the instructions, the new TMAPs are held down with 1 bolt, and you have to sort of finnagle the sensor so the bolt can get started! WTF. Plus, we have to splice in harnesses just to use 2 lousy TMAPs. After reading the installation instructions, I am not convinced that this is a professional kit. They did it this way due to a constrained budget for performance vehicles or something to that extent.
I would recommend going aftermarket. GM has proven to be useless for their warranty coverage anyhow.

I think we are just getting ripped off...
Reason being... Look at guys with aftermarket tunes on their HHR SS... they are putting down as much as the Cobalts....
So you would think the GM tune would net the same gains on either car.
Not the case.
Either way Im going to get the GM tune and buy an aftermarket intake.... I am NOT going to be happy about it though.
